Don't they all come with smoked windows? Are you talking about the 2 front ones? I think even those already have a light tint. $0.02 |

Thanks Lionspeed!
I forgot to mention front two windows. I guess to clarify, what tint % and brand best matches the factory tint? Also if anyone has pics of their front windows tinted.
Thanks again. |

| I think the factory tint is 40%. We're getting our front 2 windows tinted this week to match the other windows. |

California sucks! :D
Here in Arizona, we don't really have any laws... welcome to the real wild wild west! Buy a gun, tuck it in your shorts and you are good to go, who needs a permit?
Actually, we have limits on the front windows, but they can be pretty dark, the back windows can be black out. |

It is only against the law if you tint more than 30% for the front windows.
1. Windshield:
Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 4 inches of the windshield.
2. Front Side Windows:
Must allow more than 70% of light in.
3. Back Side Windows:
Any darkness can be used.
4. Rear Window:
Any darkness can be used. |

When I lived in CA, I got a fixit ticket for my front windows which were at 35% (this was around 2003). The only true way to get around this in CA is to get a prescription from the optometrist for tinted front windows. |

Yup, fully aware of that. Luckily i'll be moving to a state that allows up to 35% on the fronts. |

| The only time I was ever been pull over by cop with Tint citation is when I was driving my Honda Honda. Seem like they just hated Honda. I have my 530 tint dark around and drove it everywhere for 5 years. No Cop pays any attention to me, even when I park right next to them many times while I have my BMW. As soon as I switch to my Honda. I got pull over going up the ramp by a CHP for window tint on my brand spanking new 07 type SH before even reaching speed limit. Hopefully Acura will not suffer the same discrimination as my HONDA. |

| Thanks to those HONDA RICER PUNKS that darken Honda's reputation......Do they all think we sell dope and drive like MORONS with BLARRING ghetto RAP CRAP ? I wish they would arrest those idiots blasting that god nasty noise called cRAP ! I can even feel it in my house when they FLY by well over the speed limit! :3: :3: |

Next time when you're in a Honda/Acura, try avoid EYES contact with the cops. Keep a straight face looking straight ahead ... and maybe just maybe they'll find someone else to give a ticket to.

| Enjoy, It gets a lot of looks, I believe it is a 30% it matches the rear windows. |
|
|
| sigp228 |
| Here in FL the minimum legal percent transmittance (the amount of light transmitted through the tint) is 28% for the drivers and 15 % for the rear. I measured the rear windows at about 22% so I got 20% on the two front windows in a metallic (but non reflective, it looks black) premium 3m film. I think they called it dark charcoal. It matches perfectly with the rear. Now technically its illegal but not very much and the cops are not going to bother your typical MDX driver for that. |

Front Windshield 60%
I have Ceramic Huper Optik tint on front sides @ 30%
and front windshield @ 60%. Ceramic tint is made to
not interfear with GPS&NAV and also Reduce heat and ultra
violet rays from entering your vehicle. Its pushing the
nineties here in California and the tint really helps with
protecting my interior. Also helps the AC from not
having to work so hard to cool down the interior.
I know I'm taking a chance, but the risk is worth it.
I have stopped next to a police officer at a Stop light
and they didn't even look twice, could have
Something to do with upper end vehicles? The tint is
not noticeable on the front windshield, I only have to
worry about the front sides.

| I'm thinking about tinting my front windows to match the back ones. I have 2 concerns. First, I believe the back windows have a 35% tint. In that case, it's against the law in California. I think they only allow 30%. Second, anyone here tinted their windows 35% and it turns out to be a problem being too dark at night? |
|

| Mine match the back, and it is no issue at all. They don't look like they are the same in the pictures I posted, but they are (or very very close) |

Huper-Optik Tint testimonials
The important thing to remember is how much heat is allowed through the windows?
The more ultra violet rays and heat that enter your vehicle, the more harmful it is to your leather and the rest of your interior. Put your hand against the front windshield on a hot day, feel how hot it is? It gets pretty hot, then on the drivers side? If you have tinted your windows with ceramic huper-optik tint to exclude heat or UV, you will feel very slight to no heat depending on the percentage of the tint. Most people tint windows for looks and to darken which doesn’t mean the tint will exclude UV and heat. The question is not how dark or light the % is but how much % of UV and heat will be excluded from entering the vehicle. Are you using a dash cover? Or a liquid dash protector? Sunshade? Even factory tint that is built into the windows doesn't exclude the amount of heat required to protect your interior over the long term. I have 60% heat reduction 99% UV on the windshield and 30% heat, 99% UV on sides and back. Yes I tinted over the factory tint in the rear to further reduce heat and UV. The biggest notable dereference was when my X is left parked at the train station in the sun 8 hours a day without a sun shade (80 to high 90 degrees), yes its hot, but not to the point where I couldn't sit on my leather seats or touch my steering wheel, I’ve been there before. The AC cooled down my interior in no time, 5min and then set to low. Best investment I ever made. :9:
I know it's against the law in CA on the front and sides, my risk your gain. |

| Maldoman, when you said you had the windshield tinted 60%, do you mean the strip up top or the whole thing? I'm intereted in getting Huper-Optik but none of the local installers has that brand. They have somthing called F1 instead. |

Yes, I tinted the whole windshield @ 60% filtration, see pics 1&3 posted. Keep in mind though you can't really tell if there is tint on the front windshield because it's only 60% which is the lightest possible. Perfect Window Tint did the job, inquire @ 714.546.1002, Costa Mesa CA. house calls available also. |

I went with Suntek HP also. I did 30% on the fronts. It looks about the same as yours. You can still see the difference from the rear windows. |

Took these pics earlier this month down in Daly City / Pacifica by the ocean. The foggy day gives you a better appreciation for the degree of tint.
As others have stated earlier, there is a definite advantage to tinting even the front windshield. Guess no one noticed on the the home page that my windows were tinted within the first week of delivery back in October/November!
Anyhow, here are the details:
Front Windshield: 50%
Front Windows: 35%
Rear Windows: 20%
All Llumar Brand.
Enjoy!

well, i travel extensively throughout the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. Luckily, i have not been harrassed by law enforcement (knock on wood).
I figure the benefits of the UV radiation reduction outweighs the risk of a tint ticket!
As long as you know what you're getting into....;) :p  |

Hey Fab,
Boy by your first response "CA Illegal" and all, I thought you were dead set against it.
It makes a world of difference and I'm so glad I did it.. Even if it does mean a fix-it ticket someday.
Both Front windows $75 at Best Guys right near my house off Clayton Rd. I did 30% and its a tad lighter then the back. I also have the light interior and I'm pretty sure you've got black/black so I'm not sure they'll do 30. Worth a shot!
The tint they use isn't ceramic but is made by a company called Llumar and looks great and is guaranteed for life.
