Time To DUMP my 07 MDX !!! - Click HERE for Original Thread

After 3 months of driving the new 2nd gen 2007 MDX, I've decided to give it a rest. There appears to be many negatives, problems & issues in this forum. Complains after complains after complains ... face it, the MDX is just plain suck in all areas, otherwise there wouldn't be this many threads.

We still love our MDX, seems like this is a joke thread or you don't mind taking a huge depreciation and tax loss.
burnside
LOL.

I think this is a great car and most of the posts I've been seeing is just nit-picking. I bought my X last Monday, had to take it in on Friday due to battery issues, and haven't seen it since. Sh*t happens though, gotta expect it sometimes. I can't wait to pick it up and start enjoying it again!

... just give it some time, I have no doubt you will find the same road as I have. As far as tax loss, depreciation ... I never pay attention to that. Would that be a problem too?

If there was no one to complain, then this board would not have any threads. I doubt seriously there is a board where people don't complain at all.....its human nature!

I find this board to be a great help. I read all the posts to see what other owners have to say. If there is a problem, I check my own X to see if it is having the same problem.

Sorry to hear you are getting rid of yours...hopefully it will make someone else happier. Best of luck with your next purchase.

By the way, let us know what you decide to get. I would be interested to know what you decide to get to replace the car you thought was the best buy to begin with....

I know what you mean.. I had the black smoke under the dash problem too. Even Bill Hodgenson told me to never drive the car up anything over a 30 degree incline unless I want all the power to shift to the the front right wheel which completely bows the driveshaft and leave the suspension feeling like you're driving on gravel. The other result is that it will leak at least 1/2 a tank of fuel. Good times!

Sometimes when I read posts like this, I wonder if I'm on drugs.:crazyeye:

Anyway - to LionSpeed, I can only say that you have indeed picked good reasons to dump the X ... other people's complaints can really get your dobber down. And that's not covered by warranty.

Best luck, LionSpeed. Hope your next relationship (w/ your new ride)
will last longer.

I did find out less than a month ago you posted
" I have been driving my X for a 2 months . . . love it, great ride, blah blah...",

but then it's always love/hate relationship between man and their rides.

I see you have a 04 Cayenne S. How is it as far ride & performance? I am looking at some Cayenne myself.

Mike_TX, you are absolutely right, this forum along with good comments & complaints did not ever affect over my decision even a bit. Infact I have realized that all of you guys are very nice people & sincere. I did however find there is a person starts with "F" in this forum kinda a jerk, a.hole, narrowed minded, & with harsh comments sometimes. Other than that, I think this forum is very colorful.

I am guessing this is a direct shot at -

"Like many of you I did my due diligence and research before jumping into a sizable investment like this. I must say that some of the "tough love" or negative messages on this board nearly scared me away from the MDX altogether"

Which can be found on another thread.

Very nice...

I test drove the 07 X extensively on several occasions (a local Acura sales manager is a friend of mine) and in comparison, the Cayenne S
rides fairly harsh (mine doesn't have air suspension) but more solid.
Performance wise, in turns of acceleration and braking, Cayenne S is definitely supirior. The tiptronic manual shifting is nearly instant
up or down. The V8 has a fairly linear torque distribution when compare with X's high-rev design. The brembo brakes (same as the ones on Cayenne Turbo) are very impressive and sometimes offer too much stopping power.

Hmmm,

$40,000 vs $58,000... yeah, I would hope it is a bit better.

I'm the guy that wrote this note yesterday. I actually just got off the phone with my dealer and am negotiating a way out of the MDX. I actually cited this message board as the basis for my separation from what I thought was the ultimate mid sized family SUV -- there were just too many complaints and some major ones at that. Looks like an X5 is in my future. As the dealer joked, I may end up being the shortest tenured owner. Thanks for exposing the pure evilness of the MDX :D

Throw a sticky on this post. If someone who is upset with the MDX runs out and buys the Porsche, I guarantee they will really be ticked in a few months.

The Porsche has a terrible repair record. I personally liked it (previous gen was underpowered in the 6 Cyl) but check out some of the issues with it.

Or if you really want to roll the dice, try the new X5!

You may want to wander over to roadfly.org and check out some other makes.

I've said it here before, the MDX is so far the best SUV I've owned. Wonderful vehicle and I love driving it.
solaraguy
Lionspeed, am I missing a thread or two where you are trading in your MDX b/c of issues? What problems have you had that would make you dump your new X. Interested to hear what they are. As for me I've had no issues since I bought it... But then again I only have 3K miles on it after 7 months so I can't say I've put it through the ringer let alone broken it in yet.

Perhaps Burbank is the issue. You need to get out of the Tropical Junk yard and see other parts of the country. Southern Caliphony is like a burnt out desert. As a New Yorker friend who lived DOWN there for years, said they are all about nothing talking about nothing going in circles no where!!!!!! MUHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH Sheez.........He didn't have better things to say about San Francisco either !

Every manufacturer makes a few lemons and some make more than others. As your due diligence showed, there aren't a lot of unhappy MDX owners. Yes, there are problems but they seem more prevalent than they really are because people seek out internet forums to discuss those problems. I even lemoned a 2003. It wouldn't stop me from buying another one because as reliability summaries show, the probability of having problems with an MDX is lower than with most of it's competitors. Even Toyota went through an period of V6 engine failures. I posted the CR reliability results for both the MDX and X5 below. The results indicate that your experience with an X5 is likely to be worse than your experience with the MDX, but you will have a much nicer service area to wait in for repairs.

hipcheck, reality check ...
1. I'm not upset with my MDX, (only upset at the retards who work in the service dept.) ... just find it a bit too problematic at this time.
2. I'm not going to sell my MDX at this time (not until the new ride shows up in my drive-way) even tho i do have the pink slip in hand, just not riding it at the moment. in fact may keep the X for back-up car.
3. Not really hurry in looking for a new car. why? because am really curious about the RX460 in spring 08.
m500
Man, you are really scaring me here. I just finally take a big lost on my 03 ML500 and dive into 07 MDX hoping I'll be away from problematic car that is also pricey to maintain. Now I need to pray that I did make the right choice. Maybe I should of stick with PathFinder as my first choice.

Ahem...your quote

"I see you have a 04 Cayenne S. How is it as far ride & performance? I am looking at some Cayenne myself.
"

I'll continue on my mission here. People who really enjoy their cars rarely hit the Internet boards. The exception are the folks who love cars and treat them as a hobby (as a number of folks here show). People who are having issues run to the boards to complain.

I have no beef at all with people voicing their dislike and searching to fix problems. But once I see the old "this board proves this car is junk" comments I lose it.

Lionspeed you started the thread by saying:

"There appears to be many negatives, problems & issues in this forum. Complains after complains after complains ... face it, the MDX is just plain suck in all areas, otherwise there wouldn't be this many threads."

Your response to me again was:

"I'm not upset with my MDX, (only upset at the retards who work in the service dept.) ... just find it a bit too problematic at this time."

So which is it? Just trying to throw gas on the fire to see who jumps in and complains?

Something tells me you need the reality check.

1. I am looking at the Cayenne S, and doesn't mean going to buy it right the way (just look hello)
2. MDX IMO is suck but i am not upset about it.
3. my MDX is just simply at a retire stage.

Very nice, I almost put the flagstone around my pool, but it is too hot here in the summer. I put cool decking in, and it burns your feet in July/Aug...

I put pavers between my house and cooldeck, probably not the smartest thing ever. :) I had to invest in 30 pairs of flip flops of every size so people don't burn their feet when they come to my house :)

The hoop is fun, I have the volleyball posts, but the pool is a bit tough for that because of the shape.

The best part is the table in the water, to the right of the waterfall. you can sit 6 people around it and play poker in the pool :) I decided to get that instead of a hot tub, mainly because my pool is 90 degrees in the summer, not sure a hot tub was necessary.

There's something fishy about this thread, with "Lionspeed" suddenly changing heart and using profanity and attacking other members. Hmm....

If it truly is Lionspeed, then it sounds a bit irrational to become disillusioned about a vehicle or any product for that matter just because of problems and issues cited by other consumers and not personally experienced by yourself. Too much herd mentality there. :(

my bad. i thought plood of other meaning:

1. plood:
short for plastic wood, or veneered particle board

2. Plood:
When a person fecal matter has trace amounts of blood in it.

3. Plood
The act of taking a dump underwater.

These guys are so or rather too serious about the retirement of my X. It is simply a retirement nothing more nothing less. To me it is no different than changing a new pair of shoes except car is much much more expensive. It is funny actually to see the love between man & machine.

You're an idiot. No one changes a pair of "new shoes" unless that person was stupid enough to buy the wrong shoes in the first place.

^ Agreed. Couldn't be happier about our purchase after 3 months and 3000 miles. The two problems we have are the disk ejecting problem (doesn't bother me too much and I'll wait for a TSB to be issued before addressing) and a slight PTTR, which I will bring up to the dealership when I go in for my first oil change. Other than these two minor issues, the car/truck has been rock solid.

I'll also like to know what issues have caused LionSpeed's change of heart.
