Well my AC is on the fritz. Blowing only hot air and it's like 104 here in Charlotte this week! In any case just wanted to get some opinions on this situation. AC went out about a week ago, thanks to this forum narrowed it down to a blown fuse and low r134. This fixed it for like a day, then the same problem came back. Now the r134 is full (at least on the low pressure side) and I don't notice any drop on my diy recharge kit pressure gauge.
Took it to Honda today and after 6 hours they come back to me with you must have a leak and we want to replace your condenser, clutch, and sensor. Pretty much the whole thing for $1600!!! They even said they still don't know where the leak is eventhough they spent 3 hours looking at it. So spend $1600 and hope for the best. Yeah right! My MDX is an 04 and I've never run into AC issues with any of my acuras. Plus it's only got 65k on it so its barely broken in!
So with this wishy washy answer, and the comments from other posts I asked them to replace the expansion valve first and see if that fixes the issue for $600. They we like okay, but the part will take 3 days to come in. My only concern now is that I did hear the hissing noise under the glovebox before I took her in, but now the hiss is gone.
I took it to Honda since I assumed they would be the best to diagnose an issue than some generic AC person. Should I spend another $100 to get someone to look at it again or just roll the dice with the expansion valve. Hmm what to do? I got 3 days.
Anyone else have a similar issue? |
