Ok Ok. Don't be mad. Yes, I have been searching on here for this topic. That's partly how I chose it. Got it online for 109. But I haven't seen the exact install anywhere. Closest one was this one:
http://www.acuramdx.org/forums/show...bwoofer+install
But it's a different model than mine.
I know it's supposed to be in a box, but I don't care. I'm probably gonna fill the quarter panel cavity as best I can, use Dynamat and build the spacer.
What I wanna know is how to wire it.
It comes with one pair of contacts and a switch that provides either 1 or 4 ohms of impedance. (Whatever that means)
From an electronic standpoint, do I just pull the old one and hook up the new?
Should I use one of those 100Hz filter thingies?
Again, I know, I know- the stock amp is a POS giving only 35w but I don't care at this point. New amp may come later- I'm not after bone-jarring bass, just better than the Bose POS.
Could someone help with wiring specifics?
Thanks... |

Pretty much, if you don't want to do anything else. |

Thanks for posting, highmath.
Now that I'm sifting thru old threads again, someone posted that the stock sub amp gives 100watts. Is that right?
Also, should I select 1 ohm on my speaker selector switch? |

100w is right, if my memory serves me correct. 4 ohms should ok since it is just one sub, but a second opinion on this one wouldn't hurt, before you end up with a fried amp. (hmm... come to think of it... fried amp=New amp! :D ) |

Heh Heh. Yep. Not necessarily a bad thing.
Anyone else wanna chime in here?
Anyone know of a good site for simple explanation of ohms, wattage, how to wire, what to look out for, etc?
Thanks again... |

It's done! I had a buddy come by with a voltmeter. The Bose subwoofer is 1ohm. So I selected 1ohm on the Infinity and it sounds so much better than the Bose POS. Must be a result of better design since the power is the same and the ohms are the same.
Still obviously lacking power, but good for now. I may have a car audio place install new amp a a later date.
FYI, I did Dynamat everywhere i could reach and used butyl tape on the adaptor and on the speaker. Then I stripped the stock wires, crimped on new pole contacts and screwed them into position on the speaker contacts. |
