Just ordered blk/blk touring / nav and recently found this great forum.
I'm interested in buying the Hidden Hitch instead of the dealer installed and much more expensive hitch, but was wondering if the engine and transmission cooler or other modifications besides the hitch was required to tow. And if so, can these be ordered separately from the dealer?
Can't wait to pick mine up in K.C. next weekend. Really thinking about ordering the Manik side steps as well. |

Hi Cormier1,
Welcome to the forum. If you plan to tow trailer and/or boat, then I would suggest you have the coolers. Acura requires it now for warranty coverage. I have the Hidden Hitch, but I just used it to haul bikes and skis, a very light duty task.
Cheers, :) |

| Could you please post more info ont he "Hidden Hitch"? I plan to put a hitch on my MDX solely to use for a hitch mounted bike/ski rack and I'm looking for an inexpensive alternative to the dealer hitch. No need for the whole cooling upgrade thing if no real towing is considered. Otherwise, I understand (from the dealer and the broucher) that the cooling system upgrade is required. |

| Thanks. I'm still a newbee here and haven't quite mastered getting around the site. I appreciate the assist. |

Does anyone have the older MDX manual where it states that coolers are not needed for trailers up to 2,500 pounds? If so, I'd love to get a copy of the relevant pages! If you could fax them to me, I'd be most appreciative!

Thanks!

For Hookey...
You'll see this on the other threads.. but if you want the easy way to get a Hidden Hitch, call up U Haul. It cost about $160 installed, including tax, here in Los Angeles.
I've seen the Hidden Hitch for about $100 plus shipping, but after watching them install it at U Haul.. it's worth them doing it. They just run the MDX up a couple of ramps, put the hitch on a rolling hoist, wrestle it around a bit, and put the bolts right in. It did look tricky getting it around the muffler... and I'm sure it was hot there too.
However, there are lots of folks who have put on the hitch themselves - it's about 7 bolts altogether.
It works great with my bike rack.. and I may get one of those flat cargo carriers that fit into the hitch and hold about 500 pounds max..
Good luck...
