Today all of a sudden my 2006 Acura MDX Touring with NAV+DVD has started showing me the "Enter code/PIN" on power-up. It does not display anything else, neither the MAP nor AC info nor trip computer. We have never set the PIN on this vehicle, up until yesterday on power-up the OK screen used to be displayed and on hitting enter MAP was displayed and system was good to go.

What should I do?

From what I searched on this forum, taking to a dealer costs $80...but if I never ever set a PIN, isnt it a problem with the vehicle like bad battery or something and should be covered under warranty?

So did you enter the NAV code and recover function of the system?

Just entered the 4-digit code which came on a white card along with the manuals in my glove box, and now NAV system is working fine, not asking me for code every time.
Any idea what caused this? Or rather what I should do to avoid this in future? Is there any underlying problem?

You may be on the right track with the battery losing power. Only way to find out is if your dealer runs a diagnostic on the rest of the system if it's not a weak battery.

I tried the power up with buttons 1 & 6 pressed tip but couldn't get the radio to turn on let alone get the serial numbers. Am I doing something wrong?

I have an 03 w/Nav. I bought it used so no owners manual. :(
