okay my MDX has been pulling to the right ever since i got it in late March. Just took it in to Acura this weekend to have them fix it. The lady says "yes it pulls to the right, but it doesn't change the lane in under 6 seconds. there's only something wrong is it takes less then 6 seconds and mine took 10 seconds"

wtf is that suppose to mean? anybody else get this bs excuse also?

Don't forget that alignment compensates for the degree of road crown, which is not a universal figure, therefore different roadways = different angles of alignment. Not by tremendous differences, but within certain parameters.

This said, there has to be an acceptable parameter of alignment that can somewhat generalize the road condition versus the suspension alignment angle.

Clearly, if you let go of the steering wheel, the car will depart the lane sooner or later. At 60 mph that's a little over 500 feet for 6 seconds, quite a distance. Try riding in the extreme left lane of an interstate highway, and repeat the experiment. If the car still goes to the right, there may be a problem.

Make sure the tires are inflated properly. Simple concept, but just trying to eliminate the basics.

One of the real indicators of wheels alignment problems is abnormal tire wear. How are your tires wearing?

Finally, if you do decide to get an alignment, find a shop with the best alignment rack. It does make a difference. I kept taking my daughter's van in for alignments, and the shops all reported the values within spec. I called Hunter Engineering to find a dealer with the latest Hunter racks. I found one who just installed the latest Series 811 rack, and took her car to them. They were able to bring the car back to perfect alignment. The values were close to tolerance before any adjustments. Apparently small, precise adjustments are critical. Her car now drives perfectly straight, steering wheel exactly centered.

The Hunter folks told me that some racks will fall out of specs as time goes on. They said that older systems will fall out of calibration, just by dropping the wheel targets, for example. That's something that easily could happen in any shop. Newer systems are self calibrating, and very precise.

High tech alignment racks notwithstanding, a skilled and wheel alignment pro probably will make the final difference.
