I'm thinking about upgrading the OE speakers on my 05 Premium (non Bose). Infinity keeps changing their models so searching posts is getting confusing... I'm looking at 2 pars of Infinity Ref 6022i 6.5" 2 ohm for the doors and an Infinity Kappa 102.7 10" 1ohm sub. Is that the best (or a good) set up with keeping everything else stock? Any other suggestions? Just need some input before I order everything. Thanks.

My opinion may be extremely biased. I would only go with MB Quart. Infinity Kappa is not bad but MB Quart to me is the ultimate.

I have almost the same setup that you're thinking about.
See my other posts, but here's the gist:
I just installed the Infinity Kappa 62.7's in the front doors yesterday and it was pretty straightforward, even with the external crossovers. Very impressive difference over stock.
Also, I have that Infinity Kappa 102.7 sub in the back. Just made the spacer, crammed the dead space with fiberglass insulation and slapped in the sub set at 1 ohm.
Huge difference.
Next comes my Alpine PDX 4.100 amp- it's on the way. Got it for $315! Woo Hoo!:2:

Having trouble trying to find speaker that is said to fit. Seaching here for hours I find most speakers have been updated. CC and BB think all 6.5" fit -- which isn't true. Crutchfield is the other extreme -- very little fits: Infinity Kappa 62.7i, Boston S65RC and Polk db 650 / 651 do not fit. Polks are on sale and I'd love to get the db651. Has anyone tried these? ...guess I could always buy, try and return. Hate to waste a Saturday if so.

Also, I pulled the OE speaker and the Alpine base system uses 4 ohm w/ a 2 ohm sub. Probably should stick with the same impedance.

yeah... just buy some Polks and make them fit! All of them door speakers (other than the original Acura/Honda ones) will require some minor modifications, such as to shave/trim a plastic notch/tab or something with a hobby/craft knife. Or we may have to trim the back/rainguard a little for the connector or magnet to clear.

The sub requires more work to fit... needs a trim ring (MDF/wood or acrylic) here because the factory sub is a metric type and is not exactly 10". It's more like a 10.25" or 10.5" sub, and any new 10" replacement here will be smaller.
