Seeing how our MDX's are drive by wire, this means the pedal is really just a variable resistor (POT) or rheostat if you will.
So... how about having some fun with it, here's some ideas:
Rig up an extra knob somewhere, maybe on the console that allows for you to have a way of controlling throttle without your feet.
This is known as the poor man's cruise control which used to be the broomstick on the pedal trick, but with drive by wire, who needs a stick anymore. Dial up your cruising speed as you wish.
How about giving rear passengers the ability to control throttle?
There's a nice little area just above the rear power outlet that would fit a nice little black knob.
How about a push button on the wheel that shorts out the high side of the variable resistor giving you instant 'pedal to the metal' on demand? If you were smart, you could even rig up a series of relays to move the tranny into the manual shift mode and have it downshift a couple of times to give you that tranny bustin umph.
Surely I jest, but for those of you who don't think I am, I am not responsible for any damage to your vehicle, people or property should you attempt any of the DIY project ideas I've just listed. |

We actually need a module for it because the pedal is not exactly a rheostat. Your favorite "afterburner" SPST switch goes to pin/location 5.

nice little gadget you have there, what's with all the caps? Major filtering or major power storage ?
hey, does that little gadget have an A/D converter built in? I want to hook up the subwoofer output so that the engine revs with the beat of my music. |

Yeah I have some people over email (not this site) wanting to know what all those caps are about because I haven't really mentioned to them what this little gadget does. Yes, it's for power storage for an external player device. Internally, it's low power and doesn't need these caps other than a polymer one. One of these days I may post some pictures in a thread.
There're 7 A/D channels/converters in the chip but none in use. But no problem... we can easily configure an special firmware here... use the A/D feature and will rev the motor according to the music beat!! |

I am sitting in a hotel in middle-of-no-where West Virginia... my meetings ended yesterday, late afternoon, but the airport is 2 hours away and there were no flights that late.
Traveling sucks. |
