| So I just got a letter in the mail saying OnStar was going to be raising its monthly fees from $16.95/month to $18.95 a month (I pay monthly) and further stated that if I renew with an annual payment, I can avoid the price increase. Has anyone else received this? Anyone else call them up and try to refuse the price increase? |

Got the letter. Took the yearly price. It is my wife's car and I like for her to have the safety factor.
I suspect the price rise is designed to encourage people to do a yearly subscription. Saves OnStar admin bucks.

Well the good news is you can still stay monthly and not pay the price increase. I called today to cancel and when they asked why I told them I didn't want to pay annually and I didn't want to pay the price increase. The CS agent asked me if I would be willing to stay at the old price and I said yes, so they said they would continue to honor the $16.95/month price for another year.
So if you want to keep monthly payments at $16.95, just call and threaten to cancel unless they keep the old price.

I wonder if OnStar would cancel you if you used their service too often?
For example, you could lock your keys in the car every day, and call them to unlock. It would be novel, at least. |
