| We just bought a 2007 base MDX a few weeks ago and after reading some of the forums, I am getting nervous that the MDX isn't reliable. We love our MDX, but it seems I don't see many people on here saying they don't have problems. Can anyone gives us any comfort we made the right decision?? |

| As always, people with problems are more vocal, especially on a focus group like this. :D If nothing ails your MDX, sit back and enjoy the ride. FWIW, the MDX is one of the more reliable SUVs per Consumer Reports, with the exception of the transmission on the first generation. |

I agree with dj
Owners with problems tend to seek for the solution & advice in this type of forum (even though not all of owners with problems may come to this forum for solutions...)
I have 04 X that I bought brand new 3 years ago, although it has only 20k miles by now, no problem at all so far! |

| Acura has a great reputation of building reliable vehicles. The MDX should be no exception. I think you made a great choice and will enjoy your new ride more as time goes on. |

I haven't had any issues, granted I am only 2200 miles in... but all in all, it has been a great experience!
When I am on the road, in a rental, I miss my X! Rented a Highlander yesterday, it is just not the same, not even close! |

So true. I just drove from Chicago to Boston a week ago in a rented Santa Fe and I've been crying all the way :)
My X spoiled me already.
As for reliability, that's one thing I love about Honda/Acura - I never had any problems whatsoever. Even my '92 Civic has never been in shop except for usual maintenance (one of the reasons I still keep it). |

Yes you have made the right choice. I'll cut the craps & get to the point.
Previously owned:
1. Honda CRX 91 (250,000 miles), not a single problem, just regular oil/clutch change.
2. Honda Civic 97 (210,000 miles) rebuilt transmission at 150K + regular maintenance.
3. Honda Accord V6 EX 2000 (150,000 miles) just timing belt changed that's it.
4. Honda Pilot 03 (50,000 miles) just rotating tires & a lovely engine I may add.
Just remember, you are buying Honda. Nough said! |

I've had my 07 5 months and not even a little problem with anything.
I haven't even had to put air in the tires. Just changed the oil at 3750 so far. I'll take it to the dealer for the 7500 service.
Very boring service history. |

Can't speak for the 2nd Gen X, but I had owned the 1st Gen X for 6 years with 70K. Other than regular maintenance there wasn't
any problem. As far as I could recall it never even missed one start
at the turn of the key......

How's the reliability with that Cayenne? |

Bought it pre-owned earlier this year and so far it's been great.
I looked at the service history of its first 3 years of life by the first owner and other than the 20K service (oil change and a bunch of visual inspections) the only issues looked at were rough engine idle and a burn out signal light.
It's a very solid vehicle (material, build and fit) and probably over-engineered a bit.
Unless it has some problems down the road otherwise the service history will be even more boring than my X, given the following service interval:
Oil change: every 20k
Transmission/differential fluid change: every 160k or 16 years :o |

I agree with the posts. You're going to find nuances in any car you buy. This forum should be renamed "acuramdxperfectionist.com. Every one here just wants to get every dime they can from their car. It is such a good vehicle, we're greedy and always wanting more.
Just so you know, my MDX has the following problems:
1. Ejecting CD/DVD issue (rare, but my car has it)
2. Whistle noise when driving above 70mph (seems only to happen when recirculate is on)
Other than that, perfect car. The issues will be fixed, I truly believe that. Other questions I have had about this car have stemmed from either my ignorance to read the manual or tricks that I never knew.
Like all the other owners, once you drive a loner, rental, or your other car, you really do miss your X. It is that great of a vehicle. Enjoy yours and treat it like a baby! |

15,500 miles on a 2007 MDX sport and no issues. I have had 2 oil changes. The on board computer tells me when to take it in for service.
I have owned the following Honda's:
1987 Accord
1988 Civic
1993 Accord
1995 Accord
2002 S2000
2004 Accord
2006 Civic 2 door for 16 old daughter
2007 MDX
No issues except the pursuit of perfection |

Is it reliable? The left rear wheel keeps flying off while driving on a freeway, and the other day the steering wheel came off while driving. Yeah, and this is the sixth engine I have changed in 3 years. Other than that it is not bad! Just kidding!
This is the third MDX we have. Had no major or even minor problems so far. Each vehicle type has some issues, but in general I think it is fair to say, at least IMHO, MDX is top quality. We are planning to keep ours for a long time. |
