I'm considering trading my 05 Touring, Navi, RES - SS/Ebony w/ 51k miles. New tires, clear bra, body side molding, sunroof deflector, towing package - latest NAV DVD.

I'm looking at an 07 Tech/Ent. Maybe Sport too..

Before I pull the trigger I thought I would poll the audience here and see if any people made a similar trade and had any surprises (good or bad) and/or any regrets.

Any input is welcome. Thanks!

The 07 Sport is amazingly better than the 05.

got an 07 from the lemon 06, love the new X. Only a few things i did not like, but love the rest, no auto wipers, no onstar and also no touchscreen, but the rest of this car makes it up and auto wipers didn't matter really.

Do yourself a big favor and get the Sport package. Worth every dime and then some.

I traded my '06 Touring MDX for a used '07 Sports/Tech with 16K miles back in May. I hated driving the '06 b/c it was too bland for me. I love the BMW X5 but it just was not as practical a vehicle as the MDX with two small children.

I LOVE the '07. It gives about 90% of the BMW driving experience (I took 10% off for acceleration) but is way more practical.

With two car seats in the back, my wife is able to sit more comfortably between them now. Wider is better in comfort and handling. The interior is more dynamic in my opinion. I do miss the auto wipers but its not like they worked perfectly in the '06.

If you like the "cushy" ride of the pre-'07 MDX, you may not like the stiffer ride (even when in the comfort mode).

My only regret is not waiting 6 weeks to get the new '07 rather than the '06

I had a 2006 Black/Ebony MDX Touring NAV/DVD. I loved it, but when I saw the new one, I had to get it. I traded mine it about two weeks ago, and so far it has been amazing. I actually get better gas mileage on the highway, and I look forward to hopping in the car every morning to drive to work. The two really are not comparable. I got the 2007 tech/ent. The back seats are very similar to the front, and it is much more comfortabel fro those in the back with the climate control and huge DVD screen. The remote pops out for easy use. I like the non-touch screen better, as it is easy to navigate, and the screen is more eye level (i found myself paying less attention to driving when I had the touch screen). The handsfree system is significantly better, and the number pops up on the screen so even if you have no idea where your phone is, you know who is calling.

I do not really think the sport model was worth the extra money, but its a matter of opinion. I got mine for 5300 off MSRP, and it was worth every penny of the trade up.

Good Luck!

I traded an '06 with Navi/ENT for an '07 Navi/ENT and don't regret it at all. The '07 is a completely different SUV with a totally different personality.....one that is more fitting with my driving style.

The only thing that can be approved upon is horsepower (can always use more power :o)) . But at 300, she does just fine.

If the pocket book permits, and your in a position to let go the '05 without being upside down, you won't be disappointed.

cheers,

So far I've heard a lot of minor quality issue about the 07. Anyone out there think the 05/06 was built better (or worse) than the 07?
asalkeld
I think while the 07 is more 'technically advanced' the quality is far worse, I actually regret changing, I have had noises galore, and now I am facing a humming noise coming from the tires or transmission, the dealer says it is the tires , nonsense that that at 20k you have to change the tires, and of course I now hate to drive it,,, so beware I was lured by looks and technology and now I regret it, my old MDX worked great (I thought foolishly that an 07 would be enven better)

I think you are suffering from first year production problems.

I had the choice of getting the last of the '06's or the first of the '07's.

Having been burned by first year productions of the Infiniti Q45, BMW745i, Porsche 911 (1982) I decided to get the '06 and let others work out early production problems.

Well who buys Q45's anyway?????????????????????
745i are problems from day one (in law has one and its always in the shop....)
911 are for folks who have lots of rubber to burn and cash and couldn't be bothered (my boss had one and she dumped SO much into that vehicle it was BEYOND my imagination.....)

I had NO issues with my 07 X other than a couple of VERY minor cosmetic issues that I can live with........I don't regret getting rid of my 05 at all.......:1:

The original Q45 was a beast.

It handled like a big BMW - in fact I looked at both, but at that time - mid 90's the largest engine in the 7 series was the 6 cylinder - the 735il.

The only competition was the big Benz or the original Lexus LS400 which did not handle at all and the Q45 was $20,000 cheaper than the SEL450.

How about trading some of your homemade to some of my homemade "fly lice"?

First, but I could be mistaken, dump that pot! Teflon NO good for you! Go French or cast iron "made in the USA" only! Lodge Logic excellent also or Calphalon has a new "non stick" that is not teflon but expensive, yields fabulous results.... Burp....I need a Marg right now...........
Best in my opinion in this order:
Copper
Calphalon non stick (fairly new on the market $$$$$)
Cast Iron made in USA (lodge)
Stainless steal.....

I don't give out my gumbo secrets but I do share the results in person......;)

I waited for the 08s to come out so I could see if there were any major changes and to try and get a deal on an 07.

Anyone else have any input on the thought of moving from an 05 Touring NAV/RES (54k) to an 07 Tech/Sport?

The dealer I visited today wants like $21k OTD after trade, giving me like 26k for mine.

Thanks again for your input/feedback

Honda history:
they will never make a "major" change unless the vehicle has been in production for 5 years or so. An exception would be the 1st generation RL ran 8 years without a major "face lift", therefore expect NO major change in the all newly designed MDX for another couple of years. Changes will be minor or a feature added, mechanical upgrade/improvements etc.....
An 05 with 54K for $26,000.00 probably isn't too bad, could you sell it personally for a few more thousand? sure and that can be a head ache...You should negotiate the price of a new 08 or 07 before you even mention "trade"......you're doing it THEIR way (nice way of saying bend ova.....). Talk price of new one, then talk trade- in......:1: :1: :1:
