Anyone else notice that the factory trailer hitch on the website for the 08 Acura MDX has been reduced to $521? I don't recall the 07 price but it was in the neighborhood of $750 and my dealer wanted $918 installed.
Question for all the 07 MDX owners out there. Now that the hitch has come down in price would that compel anyone to buy that hitch vs. the Valley hitch many have used on here. The Valley hitch is still cheaper but the factory hitch does come with the factory wiring harness which is around $150 - $195 depending on where you buy it.
I think I'm still leaning towards the Valley hitch because I can do the hitch and wiring for around $300 or less. |

The 08 hitch has not come down in price from 07. The 07 was that price, and you have to add $150 for the fancy wiring harness, and $100 for the special cut out plastic trim piece. Bingo- you have $760. Add in teh $30 for teh ball and carrier, too.
The Valley hitch sure looks like a winner. It tucks up high, but not so high that it needs a cut out. You still need the OEM plug n play wiring harness if you wnat to do it right. |

I just went back to the Acura web site and it says for $521 that it includes the following:

| I was told that the valley hitch will only tow 3500lbs and that you need to add spring bars for it to be able to tow 5000lbs. I'm under the impression that the factory hitch will tow 5000lbs from the get go. |

| Mysteriously the price went back up to $716 today. I had called my dealer this morning and told him the price went down to $521 and he went to acura.com and said he saw $716. So went I got home today I looked it up and sure enough the price went up to $716 from $521. In my last post the $521 was copied and pasted directly from the acura.com web site. I didn't type that in.....it was directly from their site. :confused: |
