Temperature Gauge - Click HERE for Original Thread

I've noticed that my temperature gauge has been acting wonky. For instance, today it was about 111 here. My gauge said 87, and not just at startup. Clearly, something is a miss. I know it's an easy warranty fix, but just curious if anyone else has had this prob?

Yes, something is amiss. Have you considered moving?

HA. LOVE THAT! LOL

Actually, my temp gauge seems pretty accurate (considering the temp down at street level on hot days is gonna be a degree or two higher than the radio says). Much more accurate than my TL's was.

That big a difference is a definite dealer fix.

the temp guage has alot or weird logic. It won't take a reading over 25MPH nor under 12MPH and some other stuff. Thats what i have heard on the TL forums in the past though. just my input.

Hmmmm, that's interesting. It seemed to work fine in the past though. I think it's just a fixer deal.

Fixer deal, I like that. Have you had any front end damage or minor collisions that might have damaged the sensor? IIRC, it was located under the front bumper on the older X.

I do not work well either when it is 111 degrees. In fact I do not work when it is that hot!!

No, no accidents, impacts or anything like that. I think it's just probably reacting to the heat the way everyone else around here is. :)

Mine has been pretty accurate as well, and we have had over 30 of those 110+ days this summer :)

Don't know how you guys stand it, but 106 (SoCal) in 4 consecutive days is more than I can handle. I am trapped indoor for days on end.

:(

P.S. my temp gauge is so far accurate.

Mine has been giving me problems, too. It takes FOREVER for it get the correct temperature. If it's in the sun (too hot) or in the garage (too cool) it will then take a good 15-20 minutes of driving for it to get accurate. Is that the same as everyone else?
My other beef is with the avg driving speed on the trip computer. Mine is ALWAYS at 32 mph. I can drive for two hours at 70mph and it will still have an average trip speed of 32. What's up with that?

what you are saying about the temp gauge is accurate. i have the exact same problems, which is why i thought mine was broken or malfunctioning.

regarding the avg. speed: you have to reset that manually for each trip. if you press and hold the select button, it'll reset for you. otherwise, it takes an average of all trips that you've taken. kind of lame if you ask me.

Mine does take a while to adjust as well.

I don't know how you accept the fact that the ground randomly shakes, or the disgustingly high housing prices... a few months of hot, dry weather is a small price to pay :26:

1. Ground randomly shakes = Lambada dance + More marg mix.
2. High housing prices = more profit $$$ for my retirement.
3. Hot & dry weather = ... just plain sucks.

We have no natural disasters, on one side of us (CA) the world shakes and will eventually fall into the ocean, not to mention the mud slides... on the other side of us (more TX than NM) they get floods from the 651654654 inches of rain they get each year.

In the middle, 9 perfect months of weather, with a few hot months in the middle.

Retirement money? Ahh, yes, the market in AZ jumped considerably since 2002, so the money for retirement is there, but the buy in cost was much lower. 4 years, almost 400,000 in housing value gains

ahhhhhhh!

Finally cool down last night around 67. High today is going to be around 87 & the weekend to be low 80's. Looks like the heat wave is behind us in SoCal. That was a brutal 5 days of heat in a year topping record high of 107.

LOL I am glad you didn't melt! We are having a bit of a cool down too, today will only be 102, and 95 for tomorrow and Friday. Another few weeks and I will have to bust out the long underwear.... brrrrrr
