| This weekend I got my invitation to the Acura Golf Escape at Pinehurst. Sounds like a good deal and lots of fun. Is anyone else thinking of going? My wife is "giving" it to me for my birthday. She will probably tag along to enjoy the spa. |

| I didn't get one either. I wouldn't really consider my self a golfer... I swing the sticks at the little white ball, and it taunts me by jumping about 100 yards at a time. Apparently, the balls like dirt, trees and water, because that is where they typically end up. |

| I got my invite. I think it was about $700 or so bucks for a weekend of golf (with use of an Acura :)). Not being a big enough golfer to enjoy the expense, I passed. |

I don't know how Acura determines who gets one and who doesn't. For me the timing is right and the price is right. A chance to play Pinehurst #2 will be awesome. Even though I'm just your average weekend Joe Golfer it is a special place to play. Pinehurst #2 is celebrating it's 100 year anniversary this year.
While not a freebie the price is not bad considering what you get. Lodging, food, the use of a new Acura, a spa pass, Pro V1 balls, and a custom Titleist Driver or Scotty Cameron putter or a round of golf on #2 or a $300 gift card. I'll take the round of golf since I don't need a new driver and have a Scotty Cameron putter. That is in addition to the 3 other rounds of golf at Pinehurst.
Sounds like a good birthday present for myself! |

I will have to look into this. I go to the Sou Pines/Pinehurst area every 3 years for a high school reunion.
However, I am just to @#$$% cheap to pay what is required for #2. The green fee is now around $300 PLUS caddy. Pebble Beach is another of my dream courses but way too expensive. rove through there two years ago and said hello but did not stop.
We stayed 4 days at Doral last year and I would not spring $250 for the Blue Monster. Some friends are going to go by Sawgrass, just outside of Jacksonville, on the way to our annual Jekyll outing. Again $250 is just more than I can justify to myself for 18 holes of golf.
I like golf, but not at those prices.

I just got my "Acura Golf Escape" book.
I will have to say that it looks pretty good. I called the 800 number and talked to a lady in Pinehurst.
The round of golf on #2 in instead of one of the other 3 rounds. However as already stated that is really a better deal than a new driver or putter. The cost of the caddy and gratuity is included.
The use of the Acura is only for four hours.
At the cost of $596 from 11 Nov until 18 March this is a very good deal. I am very familiar with the costs there.
As of now I plan on gathering a few of my friends and we will have a foursome taking advantage of this deal.

Mine came in the mail last weekend. I'm not going. Its a shorter drive to Pebble.
My 12 year-old beat me straight up the other day. First time ever. My game sucks these days (handicap has gone up 3 points in 3 years) since I haven't been playing much. Now that he can keep up, we've been playing a bit. He even made the golf team at school.
I think I'll take him down to play at Poppy Hills sometime soon. That's a great course, and a fraction of the cost of Pebble - as an NCGA member I think I pay $60 and he pays $10. |
