on the RL Fab.
What do you use to keep the leather in such good condition?
How often do you apply to the leather seats?
Do you use the same product on the MDX? If so, do you apply with the same frequency as the RL?
Is the leather on the MDX thinner than the RL? |

RocketMan:
I don't want to trash the newer Acura's BUT quality is NOT the same as my 04 RL. Is the Leather thicker? YES ! I'd even bet thicker than the newer RL's.....I use Lexol exclusively. With regards to my MDX I use the Lexol in the baby blue color bottle (for rubber, faux leather etc.....) as most of the seating is NOT REAL leather. I give MORE attention to the RL as its my pride and joy (last of the true Japanese made vehicles) second MDX, last RDX. It is difficult keeping each one spotless like the RL.....I'm just too old and its too hot this time of year......My RL has NEVER seen a wet road, a gravel road or a dirt road, mostly blue skies (all luck too)........otherwise Meq's for wheel dressing, lexol for dash, leather seats, ZAINO for EXTERIOR and Lexol for engine bay.......The RL has NEVER been in the shop since I bought it brand spanking new (knock on wood) 3 + years ago......:1: :1: |

| Is the 07MDX leather thinner than 04 RL ? Yes! How often do I apply, once a month minimum to both...... |

| The leather on my former 02 RL even smelled differently than the MDX. It was a very elegant ride. If anything, I didn't like the look of the wheels all that much and would have changed them had I kept the car. I've since borrowed an 06 RL from a friend and while the tech stuff and interior were plush enough, it did not strike me as on par with similar MB and BMW and Lexus offerings, more like an Avalon. |

Do NOT get an 05 RL. That was the first year of redesign and had a lot of teething issues (mostly electrical and ignition-related) that were mostly fixed in 06 and 07. It's maturing at 08 but still bland and not worthy of being the flagship Acura. |

That engine bay does look really clean. You say there is a Lexol product for cleaning under the hood? Are these Lexol products available at your local auto parts store? |

Sadly, they don't make car of that "quality" any more.

In all fairness, my RL has NEVER seen a wet road, rain or has been on a dirt road since day one....I've never let her get dirty. Lexol has a product in a blue bottle that is for plastic (faux leather etc....) asided from their leather conditioner and cleaner....  |
