Now that I see the invoice numbers for 2008, I figure it is a good deal for an 08 purchased in Sept of 07.. Invoice for this as seen on kbb.com is $42,094 which is $1,132 below what I paid...

Here are the contract details...

Basic Info... 42 month lease, 2k out of pocket, 12k miles per year, $655 per month... $3,383.87 below MSRP...

Acura.com Shows the 2008 Tech/Ent with and MSRP of $45,895. Anyone have any idea why our contract would show the MSRP as $46,610?....Never mind.. I see that the contract MSRP includes the $715 Destination and Handling..

We just picked up the 2008 MDX with Tech Package a few days ago too!!! Here's our details:

Agreed Upon Value of the Car: $40,100
Gross Capitalized Cost: $40,695 (agreed upon price + $595 acquisition fee)
$1500 out the door (includes $480 towards cap cost reduction)
36 months
12k miles/year
$600.24/month (that's including tax..we're in southern california, and my tax is 7.75%).

My husband and I originally were looking at 07 MDX with Tech, but after I haggled via e-mail and phone, we went to the dealership, and they didn't have the color we wanted (gray with ebony). But, they said they will just give us the 08 one for the same price. So, we went for it. Now, I'm thinking it was wayyyy too easy to get the 08 for the 07 price.

What do you all think?

BTW...i LOVE the new MDX. I previously had the 2005 MDX touring with navi, and i LOVED that one too, but I LOVE this one even more!!!

Do you know your residual and money factor?
sleepysoo
phins2rt,

you know, i don't know what the residual or the buy rate money factor is on the 08 mdx tech. I know that the residual is 54% and the current buy rate money factor is 0.00174 for the 07 MDX tech/36 months/12k miles. For the life of me, I can't seem to get the residual and the buy rate money factor for the 08. Maybe it's too new? Based on those numbers, I did not so bad, but i'm sure it's different with the 08!

sorry..i wasn't able to help you out anymore! if you ever find those numbers out, can you post it here to let me know?

This information should be on the paperwork that you signed and (hopefully) reviewed at the dealership.

Before you sign your lease, suggest you check the many, many prior threads on leasing.

When you do so, you will understand:

1) Why you should never, I repeat, never put any money down on a lease.

2) To the extent possible, you should include as many charges, including sales tax and bank fees in the lease.

dj-mdx2 - yes...the residual is there (i calculated at about 61%), but they don't have the money factor on the lease contract. In my knowledge of leasing (i've leased about 5 cars in the past 5 years), they don't actually print the money factor. And, the dealers won't give me a quote on the money factor for the 08...they did for the 07, but not for the 08...i don't know why...oh well!!!

Jeffk- i agree with not putting anything down. In our case, we had to put a slight bit down to get our payment to where we were comfortable. Ugh...I hated to do it, but had no choice!!

How come you suggest rolling all those bank fees into the lease payment? I always thought it was better to pay those up front?

I was given the following numbers for the 2008 MDX Tech Entertainment (last week):

42 month money factor is .00250 (6%)
10k per year 55%
12k is 54%
15 is 52%

36 month money factor is .00275 (6.6%)
10k is 60%
12k is 59%
15k is 57%

Does anyone have any insight as to whether or not there will be better deals toward the end of the year? The MFs seem pretty ordinary right now.

Thanks!
sleepysoo
dang it...

based on those numbers, i'm getting charged about $7/month more than i should. but, i do have the tech only...

wonder what the money factor is for the 08 Tech...

Hmm, for $655/mo now I'm considering selling my 04 base X to lease an 08 like yours!:2: Gotta convince the wife:rolleyes: .
Perhaps I'll visit a local carmax and see how much $$$ I could take home. Oh yeah, If I may ask, how much is the added tax & lic. ? I've never leased a car before. :(
Congrats to your new ride!!!!

"Oh yeah, If I may ask, how much is the added tax & lic. ?"

The tax and lic is included in the 2k out of pocket.... I think I could of did a little better on the out of pocket... probably could of gotten away with less than $1,300... I believe the out of pocket should only cover inception fees, first month's leases payment and tax and lic.... if you still want the actual tax and lic, let me know and I'll dig up the info when I get home.... good luck....

On a differnt note...I am helping my father in-law with his car shopping... I got a quote for the 2008 RDX for 36 months, 10k per year, $932 out of pocket for $469 per month.....

Thanks for the response. I'd pm you if I have more questions. I think I might go ahead and get an '08 soon.... I applied online(Honda Finance) and got approved! I'm still waiting for another approval from my credit union. They offer 100% financing on lease, 36-48mos/15k mi/ year. My credit union just wants me to get the best possible deal $$$, they will actually purchase the vehicle and lease it to me.
Good luck with your f-i-l's new rdx!

I made some calls/ internet quote today:
08 sport/entertainment pkg
dealer1......purchase $44800(with trade or no trade) + tax/lic OR

......lease(Honda Fin) zero out of pocket, 15k mi/yr:
36mos...$829/mo includes tx/lic/fees...agreed $46018
res. value $27277
42mos...$784mo includes tx/lic/fees...agreed $45979
res. value $24842
48mos...$761/mo includes tx/lic/fees...agreed $45960
res. value $22408

IS THIS A GOOD DEAL FOR A LEASE? I'd still wait for my credit union's deal...could be better- i hope....

dealer2......purchase $44757 +tax/lic
......lease no info yet.

dealer1 will buy my car for $18750. they said it would be better if i sell the car myself and would still sell me their 08 for $44800 + tax/lic. carmax will buy my X for $18000. i was surprised! i thought i could get more from carmax. i'd be posting it fs.

I use www.leaseguide.com to assist with leasing. I pluged your numbers into the the lease evaluator, and it states the 36 month and the 48 month lease is High, and the 42 month is Good. There is an Excellent rating that I typically shoot for, but have only gotten $50 or so close to that number with 4 different cars( 2 bmw, 1 VW and the MDX). The Excellent rating is $611 per month. Goto the web site check it out. It is $20 bucks well spent. I am not sure how long your password will work, but mine has worked for over 5 years now....

ayayay! kinda stressful(exciting, too!) getting a new car!
I got another lease quote. it's for 08 tech/ent pkg like yours:

dlr1 ..no out of pocket, 15k mi..$782 tax incl., residual $26567.

dlr2 ..$2500 of pocket, 15k mi..$666 tax incl., residual ???

my crdt union could not give me the exact figures because the dlr did not fax the needed info(buyer's order) to them. Base on the purchase price of $42398, @4.9 interest rt, 36mos, zero down, 15k mi/yr, payment is $710/mo incl tax but I have to pay other fees(document/prep). Residual is $22,470, free gap insurance. I've asked the dealer to fax over the complete contract to my crdt union so that I may have the exact payment. Hopefully I'll get a call from them tomorrow. I might let go of my 04 for the first $21k...let see what happens...
Oh yes, I bought the leaseguide kit. Boy, a lot of info! I am still trying to figure out how to use it......
