Hi,
I just did my first Oil change...everything went well, strange thing is that I could not the oil level to show up between marks at the highest mark until after I put in around 4.8 Liters..
I know it should be no more than 4.5L as per threads here. 4,7L as per MDX manual...
The only thing that makes think I needed to add a little bit more was that I left both Oil drainer and Filter out for around 25 minutes. I figures since I was using Synthetic oil (Mobil 5W20) for the first time I let it be as drain as much as possible...
Does it makes sense that being this the first time using Synthetic and having let it drain for a long time, I needed to add a little bit more oil to get it to the required level ??
I have verified more than two times and the oil level is not above the second mark. So I guess I am ok ,but wanted to hear your experience with this..
Thanks for ur input.

| Was the engine warm when you changed the oil? And did you check for leaks afterwards? |

I did a couple of rounds around the block as per recommendation to have the engine warm before changing the oil. Not that hot though..
No leaks yesterday or this morning...
Oil level is still perfect as of this morning and there are no drippings around the oild drain and filter...
I guess I am ok..but wanted to run it through you guys...
Thanks,

| Wait a minute - which model year are we talking about? If you still can't find any leaks a week later, you should be OK. Just keep monitoring the oil level. |

Ok... I beleive everything is perfect...
My apologies for not mentioning the model: 02
first thing this morning I checked again:
- No leaks at all..
- Oil was above the second mark.. I was so worried that I was gonna take out some of the oil....then I noticed the car was in the garage rear first ....and voila !!! there is an inclination in the garage causing that when parked front first the oil level would show less oil, however when parked rear first, it would show oil level above the real mark...
got the car to a flat spot, then the oil mark showed perfect 3/4 up from the first mark to the second mark...
still weird why I needed to pour almost all the 5L. But I will double check again in 4K when I am planning to do another Oil change.
On a second note, I drove yesterday around 400 km, to my surprise I noticed the ride was better performance and gas wise. The posts I read about getting better performance and mileage mentioned that one would not noticed, however this being my first ride since the oil change, it makes a big difference..
Thanks to all who replied and thanks to all the very good tips shared here....
