I've been getting 13mpg while towing my toy at 50-55mph-- 88mi trip one way. It seems like it's way low considering my load of 5 passengers, camping eqpts., and the less than 2,000 lb. boat.
Same load using a 4runner v8 gets me 19mpg running with 87 octane!
I wonder if I get more mpg once I do my 30k service....

:o
Happy X'ing!

The MPG that you are getting is about correct for towing. That is around what I have seen.

The 30K service will have no bearing on your MPG unless you have let your vehicle get into terrible shape. Even then it would probably have no effect.

G!
I'm glad to hear that at least my X is getting the avg. mpg while towing. My best so far without towing anything is 21mpg hwy(300mi trip); 15mpg city driving.
So far, I've been doing my regular sched. oil changes, 15k service, and wheel alignment. I take care of her.
Have you tried an aftermarket air filter(i.e. k&n) to help squeeze a 'lil more mpg?
G. COLTON
It is going to take more than just an air filter to have any noticeable effect on fuel econome. (See another thread on that subject.) You would need to modify the entire intake system.

The MPG you are getting is not bad. I would (and I have) just left evrything alone and gone about my business.
