I just fixed a rear chrome trim on my X last night which I ordered from ebay. I have no plans of installing a rear granish and this one @ $16.00 does it's job. Thanks to coulomberic!!

Not bad for $16.00 It does the job of completing the look at the rear end. I still prefer the rear garnish better but that 12 times the price differences. :)

It's funny how that little strip of chrome "lightens up" the boxy rear end of the X. I think I like it, and a before and after really shows it off.

I have seen this before on eBay, but was a little skeptical of the quality on it. Does it look like it will tarnish, rust, etc? I know it is chrome, so it shouldn't, but for $16.... It does look good. How does it apply to the car? Double stick tape?
LionSpeed
Tried it before, took it right out the next minute. Why:

1. 3M adhesive did not stick to the bumper's texture surface too well. Hence, bounds to peel off in any day.
2. It is (IMHO) TACKY looking or in plain English, BUTT UGLY.
3. I've learned my lessons over the years, NEVER buy anything but OEM. my $0.02

I don't think it will rust... Yes it's a double stick tape.
I washed the bumper well and then cleaned it with rubbing alcohol before I applied it. It holds good.
If it get's damaged or peels off...I'll say bye to my $16.

it's not chrome - it's some type of molded ABS plastic painted to look like chrome, and it has double-sided tape just like the BSM's. Mine hasn't peeled off in about 5 months of having it.

Does the trim have a finished end, or is it just cut off?

First post. on wait list for a 08sport/ent steel blue. :1:
rsgacura
I got one too. It is just cut-off on the edges where it meets reflectors, looks great though.
mahen
Yes, as rsgacura said the end is cut-off. But it is not so visible from a distance. I will post a close-up shot once I get my X back from the dealer tomorrow. They are fixing the stupid cd/dvd spitting issue.

This is how the end looks like...

My rear chrome strip looks different with each side cut at an angle to fit with the curve of the red reflector. I have had it since Feb 2007 and had no problems with it. Bought if off ebay for about $25 including postage.

You just unroll it, clean the MDX Bumper, remove the protective tape from the chrome strip and press it in place. Took 5 minutes total time.

Personally, I love the look of the "chrome" trim strip -- moreso than the OEM garnish, in fact, which appears overdone and tacked on to my eyes.

The only think preventing me from picking one up is the color of my X. While I think the trim strip looks killer on darker colors (particularly Formal Black), I'm not so sure that would work as well with Billet Silver. If anyone has a silver X with the trim installed, post your pic stat!

Regards,
Adam

Your chrome strip might look a little better with an Auburn tag... ;)

I take it you're a displaced Alabama native. :D

Somebody stole my tiger tail from my tow hitch - while I was parked at EPCOT, as a matter of fact, last year. Jealous Gator fan perhaps?

Well, born and raised in Orlando, and I am just a student at Auburn. I will move back to Orlando after school though. Nothing beats Florida. Auburn as a university puts UF to shame. Victory is sweet.

I somewhat prefer the big OEM one myself, but you can't have a hitch and the big garnish. I chose the chrome strip. I also had to get rid of the original 3M tape, it was peeling off the bumper. I spent another $5 on a roll of heavy-duty 2-sided tape from a local store and that thing is NEVER gonna move again. I still like the look of it.;)
