Hi guys! Like those before me, I have been following this site for probably 4 or 5 months now, but never contributed. I have really enjoyed reading your posts and found them all extremely helpful in making my decision as to whether or not to buy the MDX. I am coming out of a Nissan 240SX, so as you can see this has been a huge change for me. I now have 2 large dogs and I wanted an SUV that could carry them in comfort and still scoot me around in safety. I feel very confident that I have made a wise decision. I am also posting now because I want to let everyone know about a well kept secret here in Arkansas. I have been in contact with Riverside Acura in Little Rock off and on for the past few months while I was considering the MDX, and they have been very courteous and pleasant to deal with. To top it all off, once I had decided to buy the MDX, I marched in on a Saturday morning ready to do battle and to hear that I would have a 4 month wait. What I ended up with was an MDX in 10 days at MSRP with mud flaps thrown in and other accessories at HondacuraWorld's price. It was a very easy deal. They apparently had been sent some extra MDX's for Aug. and they had an SS/Touring that did not have a buyer yet. What luck! Anyway, I just wanted to give them a little plug. Even though it is a 2001, I was very happy. I really didn't want to wait for the 2002 (my DOGS didn't want to wait!). If anyone needs a contact there, speak to Phillip. He is very nice and seems about as genuine as you will get (for a car salesman--hee, hee). He even called a few days later to make sure that everything was going well for me with the MDX. It may sound jaded to say this, but I really had expected a bit of snobbery and apathy on Acura's part based on some of the stories I had read here. Overall, my experience was very positive.

Again, thanks for being such a fantastic group and I hope that I will be able to contribute as well as you all have. Love the MDX so far! :D

Congratulations on hitting the motherload (both on vehicle and dealership). Out of the zillions of people (well maybe not that many) looking at the MDX, it's nice to get a story like this once in a blue moon.
Good luck MDXing:)

MDXn, congratulations on your new MDX! Great to hear about your surprise, your's is one of the shortest waits we've seen to date. Also glad you are happy with your dealership too. Please let us know how you're progressing with the vehicle, and you can even show your dogs off here too! ;)

MDXn, I am also driving a 240SX and look forward to getting into an SUV. As you can appreciate, there is absolutely no way to haul anything in the 240. I'm still looking at several models, but lean heavily toward the MDX. In some ways I think I'll miss the 240 - I love to scoot around the Houston traffic with ease and park in almost any compact space.

... Houston traffic and park with ease in my MDX:D  :D

Seriously one of the MDXs best features is its ease of handling. My teenagers had no problems at all on our test drives.

MDXn - than you for the post re: your experience :)

Little Rock isn't that far to drive from DFW to get a good deal - if I can't get what I want from the Dallas dealers........

Thanks and hopefully one day I will have some MDX experiences to share........

TLLoftin--

What year is your 240? I absolutely love my 240, but as I said previously, it no longer suits my needs (2 large dogs). However, the MDX is proving to be a nice change of pace. It really does have good pickup and as I get more used to it I can take the curves a little quicker. I don't feel as much like I'm in a larger vehicle than I did before. The visibility is much better, which I appreciate when trying to pull out of busy intersections. I also, of course, NEVER bottom out now. That is a plus.

My 240 is a 1991 and is still running like a trooper. It has 135,500 miles on it and could easily go to 200,000. It does have the "geriatric" car problems, but I believe they're minor. I have sold it and they are picking it up tomorrow. I'll probably drive it around one last time tonight and take some photos of it before I let it go. I am sure that in 10 years I will feel the same way about my MDX! How could I not?

My 240 SX is a '95 with 105,000 miles, and is still going strong, as yours is. I guess it may be time for a tune-up, since it still has all the original parts, except for filters. My only problem is lack of hauling space, so I gotta have an SUV. I'm still struggling with whether to buy the MDX or RX-300. I hope to make that decision this fall.

I thought about my next purchase for over a year before getting the MDX. Once I finally decided to definitely go with an SUV, I test drove practically every possible SUV and/or derivative out there. As far as I'm concerned, the MDX came the closest to providing the utility that I needed plus a little bit of the "get-up-and-go" that I'm used to with the 240. I was really concerned about turning radius, and the MDX's is very manageable. The RX 300 has a very wide turning radius, and I almost consider that dangerous in certain U-turn circumstances. I drove the MDX into work 4 days this week and did not have very much trouble parking or manuvering at all. In fact, I would say that I made it tougher than it actually was(because the car is so new I'm extra cautious). I also parallel parked it and found it easier than the 240 because my line-of-sight was better. To top it off, on the interstates and country highways out here I have had absolutely no problems keeping up, merging, or accelerating into a merge. I had serious concerns about this because I am very bad about whipping around in traffic in my 240--it's just plain easy to change lanes in that car. Well, I've gotten braver with the MDX lately and have found that I have similar success getting into the tight lane changes.

I know you'll make the right decision for you, but since I am coming out of the same circumstance, I thought that my opinion may help a little. Good luck and enjoy your 240 for now!

Yes, that does help, MDXn. Thanks. I think I've made up my mind, but like you, I've been stewing on this for at least a year. What's another few months!
