Hi,

I have been searching for a 2007 MDX Sport / Tech model. As there are some available in different dealerships but I know the colors are more limited as well. I called several dealerships the past few days and have been quoted the following

43,000
43,200
43,500

I think invoice is closer to 42 if I am not mistaken.

Should I try to negotiate for invoice and below or just wait on the 2008? They currently have 2.9% APR which I was considering taking advantage of. Only colors they have left in these dealers are
Ivory/Parchment, Black/Taupe, Silver/Ebony and Parchment, Aberdeen/Parchment and Cranberry/Ebony and Parchment.

Also I was curious what your experiences have been with Island Acura, Rallye Acura, Acura of Westchester and Acura of Valley Stream?

Any feedback would be much appreciated :)

If you can't get at least $500 below invoice, I would pass. $.02.

One thing to think about is if you are interested in there interest rates for the 2007 MDX, it might compensate for the decrease in value a 07 vs 08 depending on the terms of the loan etc.

you know, it seems like a lot of people that i've seen have gotten the 2007 mdx's under invoice or right at it. i just got a new 2008 and i was able to negotiate at a couple hundred under invoice!

hope this helped

Can you give the specifics?
What did you pay including destination and for which model?
What part of the country did you purchase in?
Thanks

I jsut got back tonight from the dealer. Had a pleasant experience. The sales rep was not pushy, didn't even ask me for a trade in and went over in fine detail all the aspects of the vehicle. He did not try to push any accessories which I liked but he was answered all my questions and seemed very knowledgable.

He mentioned due to the finanicing available he would be able to sel lme a sport model for 42500 (500 over invoice, including destination charges)

It seemed like a fair deal but I am going to sleep on it and see.
Problem is there arent too many left so I might have move if I really want it.

Human321,

i just realized that you guys are talking about financing. I leased mine, but I still negotiated the bottom line on the car. I was able to negotiate the 08 MDX Tech to $40,100. I live in Southern California! I did all my negotiating via e-mail and phone. I was first negotiating on an 07 MDX tech, but when I got to the dealership (after negotiating), they didn't have the color I wanted, so they just gave me an 08 for the same deal. In hindsight, i should have tried to negotiate further down...that 08 was too easy to get. but, by that time my baby was being fussy (just had a baby 3 months ago) and I was itching to get out of there with the new car.

although I leased, i think the negotiating down the price of the car is still the same?

I think that i did not too bad, but i think you can do better. i was just too tired to fight anymore...

I agree that negotiating is the same if you lease or don't. I just think a lot of people are forgetting about the financing aspect who are looking to buy, and are caught up in the 07 vs 08 value down the road arguments. If the difference is 2k in 5 years from now you might be able to make it up by getting the 2.9 or 4.9 vs 7-8% or above at your bank.

The term of financing is 2.9 for 36 months. I think its a decent trade off between the depreciation vs purchasing an 08 with a 6 - 7% interest rate.

I am in contract on an 08 MDX Sport in the new Sterling Grey Metalic color. The transaction is in California (Power Acura South Bay) and was negotiated through CarsDirect.com

The cars direct price in this zip code was pretty good. The problem I had with competing dealers is that they wanted a fortune to install the dealer accessories. Cars direct had what I think are GREAT prices on the accessories.

I know I could get a 2007 for a bit less but I wanted the new color and I figured the 2008 is worth a bit more as it is not a year old yet.

Here are the exact figures. The accessory prices include installation.

08 MDX Sport: $43,256
Sport Run Boards: 559.85
Roof Rails & Cross Bars: 409.34
Lower Front Garnish: 328.90
Body Side Molding: 247.75
Cargo Cover: 137.37
Cargo tray: $123.07
Bicycle Receiver: 570.80

Total: $45,633.08 Plus tax/license

Note, the bicycle reciever is instead of the towing package. Its a bit cheaper and I can plug in a bike rack just like you would plug in a towing ball/hitch. It is not suitable for towing as far as I know. Certainly it does not include the wiring necessary for towing a trailer. Note also that the roof rails and cross bars are apparently offered at a package price for 2008. Previously I have always seen them priced independently.

I noted the comments above about a very aggressive price for a 2008 Tech package car that was leased. While it very well may be a spectacular deal, I wonder if they really would have sold the car for that price with out the lease. Leases are complicated and there are lots of other ways a dealer can make money with any variety of fees, boosting the money factor (which is really an interest rate), etc.
