Alignment - pulling to the right - Click HERE for Original Thread

I recently bought a used 2007 MDX (13000 miles) and it pulls to the right. I took it in for a wheel alignment and it still pulls. I'm taking it back for the cross rotation of the front tires. I have read all the other threads about the issue and noticed that in all cases it was Michelin tires. I have Bridgestone tires. Does anyone know anything further on the alignment issue - is it tire related ?

All cases it was Michelin tires? Really? I don't know what thread you got this fact from. My tires are Michelin in sport rims. Bought in April 2007. Manufactured in Sep 2006. Current ODO 5,500 miles. NO STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION, NO ALIGNMENT ISSUE AT ALL. Drive straight like an arrow since day 1. Have not been back to dealer for anything. Not once. Not even oil change.

I think what LionSpeed is trying to say here is that the alignment problem doesn't appear to be related to the tires. ;)

People have reported several "fixes" for this issue, from road-force balancing (a procedure that requires specific machinery above and beyond tradtional alignment racks), to complete tire/wheel swaps. If you're not getting any satisfaction from your dealer's service department, I would suggest trying a different dealership, or complaining directly to Acura North America. The X isn't supposed to do this, and seeing as how there are many of us here who don't have this problem, Acura should fix your X to your satisfaction and under warranty.

Regards,
Adam

I think he was trying to say that all the cases he read involved Michelins, not Bridgestones. You read it as all of the Michelins have this issue, which of course is not true.

We are going to need to send Lionspeed to a reading comprehension course :)

Yes, don't mind the course & the cost, as long as the teacher is a female, under 30, & cute. :)

I took my 2008 tech in today for the Pull To Right and a vibration and will go pick it up in just a few...

He said there was a TSB issued for the pull and vibration, so Acura is aware and has addressed it.

Let's hope he is right!

My X also has this same issue. It's at the dealer for the third time now.

I took it back and a tire rotation was done. The tech test drove it and found no pull, eventhough to me it stills pulls. I think my situation is due to the crowned roads (sloped to the right) and how the MDX reacts as the steering is quite sensitive. They took it down some fairly flat roads and found they could go quite a distance without any pull. I'm going to try driving other MDX's on the same stretch of roads.

... just curious. Did the dealer offer you a loaner when you dropped your car for service?
MDXRDX
Loaner - yes.

Still pulling.... not as much, but a little. I need to check it out again.

The service guy mentioned the road 'crowning' too. It must be something they are told to say.
My RDX does not pull to the right on the same 'crowned' roads... neither did my 2001 X...

Yes, so far I've driven an RDX, MDX, and TL loaner.

I also escalated and spoke to their service department manager regarding me having to drop off my MDX three times for the same issue. He gave me my first two scheduled service for free. I think it's oil change/tire rotation then SHWD differential oil change. I was hoping for something more significant but the major service won't be until 100k he said.

I'm picking it up today and hope it's fixed this time. They said that the sub-frame bolts were loose which kept knocking off my alignment. They tightened it and realigned again. I'm crossing my fingers.

Please tell us what your outcome was.

Mine is going back for a second attempt.

Service manager drove my X today and called me and said that he didn't experience the pulling right issue. He said to come down and test drive with him so I said sure.

I couldn't be at the dealer until 4pm today and he had to leave early for a flight, so he had me test drive with the assistant service manager instead.

So I test drive with the asst. service mngr and was able to reproduce the pulling right issue. He even pushed my steering wheel to the left but the X still pulled right. He confirmed that I was not crazy or delusional. We also discovered a rattling noise behind my steering wheel on rough roads (freeway divider).

I left the X in service again and drove off with the loaner. Tomorrow will be the 7th day that they'll have my X out of 17 days since I purchased it.

They've tried just about everything from tire rotation, realignment 7 times, tightened loose sub-frame bolts. I just purchased and installed a set of aftermarket 19" wheels today and it still pulls right. So it's not a tire issue. I dropped off my X with service with the 19s on.

Just nuts...

My service guy acknowledged the pull and said the 07/08 TL's have it too. He said they are just super sensitive to road conditions...

They alligned it, drove it, replaced 3 tires (why not 4??), balanced, rotated, alligned, adjusted tire pressure, road force balanced, etc.

I think it has improved a ton...now it is just a 'getting used to it' issue....

Does it still pull to the right ? I took mine to another Acura dealer and the tech test drove and said it drives straight. So, I have been driving my MDX on different roads here in Vancouver and have found that the pull changes depends on the road and therefore think that the MDX is sensitive to road conditions. Here in Vancouver it rains a lot therefore most roads are all sloped to the right. I also took out a demo as well and found the same issue. I tried with caution (on a really quiet street) driving in the middle of the road where there is no slope as a result of the crowned road and found that it went straight. I can't compare this to my other car which is a 350Z which is very sensitive and goes in every direction depending on the road.
