I am the proud new owner of a 2008 Sterling Gray Metallic MDX Tech Pkg. I took delivery of it 5 days ago after finding someone to assume my 07' BMW X3 lease. MDX is head and shoulders above the X3 in terms of size, transmission etc... I will post pics over the weekend.
The only minor issues I have are the constant on/off of the underhood fan every 30 sec or so and the rather noisy backend over bumps and broken pavement. Not so much an extra noise but rather a hollow type of thud. Anyone here have this problem? Is this in anyway associated with the 2007 MDX rear bushing issue I read about?

Yeah, the fan noise is pretty irritiating, but that only comes on with the A/C, which I leave off in the fall/winter months. As for the "thudding" sound you're hearing from the rearend, mine doesn't seem to make any similar sounds, so you might want to mention it to your dealer the next time you bring it it (I'd wait until your first service appointment, though, since I don't think it's anything serious).
Otherwise, congratulations on your purchase, and welcome to the fold!
Regards,

comparing to the X3 is not fair comparison.. since it's not in the same class. Have driven an X5?

| I was just comparing it to the X3 since that is what I was driving. According to Car and Driver 5/07 it wouldn't have made much of a difference since the MDX still came in 1st while leaving the X5 in 3rd. What can I say, I had a bad experience with BMW and it left a bad taste in my mouth. |

I have a BMW 750 and the MDX is no match in its handling to the 750. Then again, that's not a fair comparison either..

I test drove the X5 3.0 a lot before getting the MDX, asthetics aside (I wasn't happy with the strange shifter, the dash is dated, etc) it didn't have the performance I expected, and it didn't handle any better than the MDX. I also felt like I was sitting a lot higher.
It wasn't the handling that turned me off to it though, it was more of the cost to value ratio. To get good performance out of the X5, you have to get the 4.8L and the cost is way beyond the benefits. It would be approx. $14K more for a similar, if not less equiped car. |

| I would never expect the MDX to be able to keep up with the 750. After all, one is an SUV and the other is a full isze sports sedan. You are correct, that truly is an unfair comparison. I hope you have a better experience with BMW product/service then I did. |

People here are comparing the X to the other sport sedans, so I thought I put my $0.02 worth...
