in the shop already. I'm more than a little upset!! Where should I go to file some complaints???
When we picked up my MDX - the HFL didn't work. Had to wait a week for parts to come in to take it back. Took it in for an hour job. After we left in the loaner (about 30 minutes later) they called to say they didn't order all the parts and could they keep it over night. Nope - I had to load in for a vendor show the next day. Can we loan you an MDX. Ok - more than a little miffed that all the parts weren't ordered but they did give us an MDX to cover what we needed to do.
Fast forward to this week - creaking noise coming from the back - louder and louder each day. Took it in for our appointment yesterday (Wed) morning. Also told them that the navi system's traffic wasn't working. Called at 4 yesterday to tell us that they hadn't figured out the creaking yet, but were working on the traffic. Can they keep car overnight? Didn't have a lot of choice - said yes (meanwhile driving a not working so great TSX). Got a call this afternoon - struts and strut housing needs to be replaced - can they keep the car until Tuesday when the parts get here. NOPE! Not letting them do that. They have it driveable but parts should be here Tuesday. As we are leaving they tell us to bring it back in on Tuesday but they can't promise to have it ready Tuesday.
Why can't they figure out if they can or cannot do the work in one day. Why is it taking multiple days to do things that shouldn't take more than a couple of hours? Why can't they get the parts they need overnight? Why do they think it is ok to keep a brand new (purchased on 8/28) MDX in the shop for 7 days when it is less than 40 days old and think it's ok?
Where do I go from here? I'm getting the feeling I've got a lemon and don't know who to contact. The dealership service folks are being rude and snotty and I'm more than a little tired of them. I'm concerned that I've spent $46,000 on a Tech/Ent MDX and am continously have issues with it. Please tell me this isn't normal!
Yes, I will admit - I'm still ticked over this whole situation. I'm not a happy MDX owner right now! |

| Sounds like you need a different dealer. |

I would speak to the owner of the dealership.
Explain that in the first 40 days, you had use of the car for only 33 days.
When I had a problem with my 'o6 (paint streaking on roof - had to repaint roof at dealer expense), they offered me accessories - about $250 worth for my loss of use of the car.
Told them to keep the accessories, but what I really wanted was 4 free oil changes and free 15,000 and 30,000 mile service.
I pointed out that their cost was less than the cost of the accessories they were offering me and they agreed.
I lease for 36,000 miles so I am expecting only windshield blades to be replaced at my expense - everything else should be covered by warranty. (I expect more than 36,000 miles on my brakes and tires).

I agree with dj on this one -- find a new dealer. You paid a lot of money for your X, and you deserve to be treated with some respect.
As for your X, in the cosmic scheme of things, a non-functionning HFL and a mildly defective strut aren't catastrophic deal-breakers in my book, so I wouldn't start tossing around the word "lemon" just yet. While I agree that a $45K-$50K automobile should work flawlessly out of the box, the reality is that cars are complex machines, and problems can crop up regardless of price. My advice would be to take a deep breath and wait and see if your current dealer fixes your X to your satisfaction.
After that, find a new dealer and then get down to the business of enjoying your X.
Regards,
Adam
PS - With a little over one month behind the wheel of my X, and well over 1000 miles on the clock, I can tell you that it's a terrific SUV that can haul people, cargo, and arse with equal aplomb. Trust me, once you get these issues ironed out, you're gonna love your X. Period. |

I concur, it sucks that this has happened, but when it is all fixed, which should be soon, find another dealer. Good luck |

| Call acura client services and file a complaint with them. The problem is that alot of acura dealerships are overloaded with cars. My dealership is supposed to have only 15 cars per service rep a day, and there are usually 3-5 reps depending on the day. The last time I went for an oil change, it was 4:00 PM and the reps were overloaded at 20 cars each and they had to use the new car parking area to store the cars that needed servicing, the techs can't keep up. |

I'm in the same boat as you. Actually a little worse. I purchased my MDX 16 days ago and it's been with the dealer for 6 days now. Alignment issue (pulls right) and brake noise. Service manager gave me the next two services for free plus a differential oil change. Anyone know what's considered a lemon car in California? |

| There should be a manual detailing the lemon laws for each state that you should have received when you picked up the car. |

| Same problem here, 5 days in the shop in the first 30 days and the Nav traffic issue is still unresolved. I've bought Acuras from 2 different dealers and they are both incompetent. |

For folks reading this forum for the first time. Good lesson here. Always test drive your car carefully before signing the final papers. If something is wrong, refuse delivery.
Dealers should catch these problems when they prep the car. I remember when Consumer Reports used to note all the delivery issues with cars and how incompetent that some dealers were.
Sorry for your issues with your new car. I know it sucks. |

Interesting theory - test drive before signing papers.
Have not done it, probably will not and not sure if the problems here would have shown up.

The strut issue wasn't an issue at delivery. It didn't start until 1600 miles (yes, I'm a high mileage gal!). The HFL issue did happen at delivery but we were dealing with an unhappy child and decided to go home and try reading the manual and figuring it out for ourselves. It didn't work - took it back the next day and they decided to order parts. The traffic thing is new too - didn't happen at delivery - but happened about the same time as the strut issue. Wish I had had the strut issue before delivery - I would have left it there and requested a different MDX - but it didn't happen that way.
We called Acura's customer service line yesterday, have a case number and the case has been assigned to a case manager - but no word from this case manager. |

Wasn't taking a shot at you at all. I feel your pain, had similar issues with some BMWs.
You will like the MDX once they fix it. Excellent vehicle and a great community of owners here. |
