I live in toronto where we get a fair amount of snow.
You guys think that winters are needed for our ride or is the all wheel system so great that we don't really need them at all. |

The tires are what make the difference. If you plan on doing a lot of driving in snow and ice, a set of winter tires would be a good idea. No matter how good an all-wheel drive system is, if the wheels can't grip, they slip (which probably explains why I always see SUVs on the side of the road during snow storms -- their drivers invariably spin out of control once they learn this simple fact of physics).

I live in Minneapolis and have given up on snow tires. Mainly because the roads are treated so often with salt, wet traction is more important than snow/ice.
Good snow tires are wonderful, but there is a trade off for dry pavement driving. Seems like our winters are not that bad anymore for snow here. |
