Hi All,
Does MDX base model or tech model come with HID headlights? Or is it only the Sport model?
Thanks. |

Hids are standard for all Mdxs.
You get auto leveling if you upgrade to the sport package. |

| The standard does not seem to be bright enough. Is it possible to change the HID light bulds only? Or will it be required to purchase the whole HID kit. I had HID 12k on my last car, so this is a bit downgrading. |

Maybe its just me but I think its more of a color preference?
I am not a big fan of the purple or the blue hues but I don't think they are brighter. :) |

| yes, it's the color preference. Does anyone know if changing the bulds alone is good? or i have to purchase the whole unit? |

| I would think bulbs alone should be sufficient. |

| Just get some D2S bulbs and you should be fine. 12000K must not put out much light at all! 4200K puts out about 3200 lumens. 6000K puts out about 2400. It seems like a true 12000K would put out about as much as halogen! |

higher the K, lower the output. Try to go to an area w/o light at night, i am sure u not gonna be satisfied w/the 12000k. anyway, the hid on the MDX is bright but i don't like the 4300k yellowish hue, i am a fan of the white/blue hid (like the bimmers) |

bimmers, as well as most OEM, use the same 4300K bulbs. |

it is a little confusing with the colors etc, here is a chart though...
btw, I do have the MTEC 4,350 fog's and Drl's and they do somewhat closely match the HID headlights, in color terms.
I would like something brighter and whiter but I'm not sure if it is safe to go to a higher wattage bulb and still not clear on what the color will look like. |

the higher the kevin the less lumiance on the road even though it looks brighter. I have tried 8k, 6K and my favorite is 7K whitish blue. Standard 4.3K is yellowish but in bad weather such as heavy rain it lights up the road far better than bulks with higher #
PIAA sells 7.5K Cobalt HID bulbs but they're really expensive. |

I think that is kelvin, if the kevin is high, he won't be very productive... I've known a few kevin's in my time that hit the bong hard, and they didn't get much done... let alone, light up the world.
