I call this the low maintenance color combo. Black rims to resist brake dust and white exterior which seem to always look clean from a distance.

I guess I'm just too lazy to wash my X. :D

techm8n,

Low on maintenance, but high on appearance...nice choice of rims and tires. Those brake calipers are screaming to be painted. How you considered that?:4:

I think it is a Nissan.

The rims are nice, but not my cup of tea. I like the black rims on black cars, I think they look a bit odd on the white. But then again, I would never buy rims for my car, so my opinion should be heavily discounted.

Thnx. Painting the calipers hasn't crossed my mind. Especially since I recently had a noisy brake issue which the dealer fixed. If the noise comes back and I painted the brake calipers, they might blame it on that. I just want to avoid any potential excuses during repair.

Very sharp black / white contrast :29:

I think it would look even nicer with the front windows tinted.

Thnx.

It's my wife's Nissan Maxima. She's considering an Acura RDX or Volvo XC90. She's always been a Volvo fan because of their safety reputation.

It's cool, I expected that some people wouldn't like the black and white combo.

I do like the stealth look, black on black combo too.

I'm thinking about tinting it. Especially the back. I had a Cayenne S which came with the optional back window rollup shade. I need it for my daughter. I'd put a light tint on the front and dark tint on the back. I want to avoid any potential fix it ticket so I'll keep the front tint on the light side.

I'm not going to bs you, Stock looks way better. Chrome will suit whine paint allot better. 19's look so tiny too.

I agree with you that my 19's look small. The center of the wheel being black and the lip chromed makes them look smaller than if it were all silver or chrome.

Thanks. You actually helped me find these wheels. I saw it in your "Looking for some new wheels" post. You wanted the gunmetal color instead of black. Are you still getting wheels?

I found it difficult to find 19" wheels that I liked which is also compatible with the MDX TPMS sensor.

Yes, I purchased the TPMS sensors from AcuraOEMParts.com and had them installed.

I also sold my Sport wheels to a member here without any issues.

wow, thats intersting... I had a very tough time with a simple sale of my stock OEM rims (which I still have in the garage) and wouldn't mind selling....

I'm looking at 19's myself, did you notice any ride difference when you went to the 19's. I see you had the 2004 Porsche and was wondering why you traded to the MDX after that.

Snarky comments aside, it's probably because you're selling non-Sport wheels. Folks with Base, Tech and Tech/Ent MDXs already have these wheels, so if they're going to buy another set they're probably more inclined to "upgrade" to the Sport wheels or aftermarket rims. And as you've found, selling them piecemeal to people who want a full-size spare is a complete and utter nightmare.

Heck, if you had Sport rims, I would've bought all four and mounted winter tires on them.

Regards,
Adam

PS - techm8n, black on white looks tight.

You've got a point with the wheels being Tech - might be better off selling to non-MDX owners like the Odyssey or Pilot which it's compatible with but the tires may have to be replaced due to rubbing.

Selling the tires piecemeal on my 01 wasn't a problem for me though. In fact I had some pleasant selling experiences with some members here. But I did ship them out one by one - that was good exercise taking them to the Fedex store. Packaging wasn't too bad. I just ordered some boxes from Staples, threw in some extra bubble wrap and cardboard and got them out of my garage.

OK, enough thread hijacking for me. Black rims look cool, even cooler on a black X. Once my Ody PAX tires expire, I will upgrade the X to black 20" rims and hand down the Sport rims to the Ody.

Yes, the ride definitely got stiffer. Load rating from the OEM 18s were 104 vs 108 XL on the 19s. Plus you loose 1/2 inch of side wall. But body roll during cornering improved.

Main reasons for selling my Cayenne S was for its poor reliability (electrical gremlins) and maintenance costs.
techm8n
Thanks all for the positive comments, and the negative ones too.

It is strange isn't it....

All I asked for is a commitment to take all 4 and a payment from 4 of you.... not really a tough task is it????

how was that so difficult??? 4 clicks in paypal takes about 30 seconds.....

DJ,

A few questions for you if you don't mind.

What year Touring Odyssey do you have?
Is that your solution to what to do about the PAX system on the van, and if you do that where will you put a spare?
Do you think the TPMS from the X will work on the Odyssey?
How many miles did you get out of your PAX set?
Lastly, what was your estimate on a replacement set?

As for me I have an '05, and my wife and kids have put about 29K miles on them, and I'm a bit skeptical of how much tread is left. This is with a tire rotation every 10K miles. I don't mind paying a little extra to not have to worry about the wife and kids getting stranded anywhere, but the estimate I got for four new tires was $1200:eek:

For that matter even that would be swallowable except that the mileage should be in the range of 60K+, not sub 30K.

I know this isn't the Honda Odyssey forum, but I've been trying to figure out what I want to do about my van. It might be an opportunity to have my cake and eat it too...I really like the OEM 19" chromed rims for the X that is. However the price on those bad boys is about $1900 (Acura Website and that's without tires I assume) --> Outta control!

Contrary to what they say here, I AM willing to ship out my 4 brand new MDX tech rims w/lattitude's on them for $600 or so plus shipping, they only have 150 miles on them.

ok, you need to settle down now....

LET ME REFRESH YOUR MEMORY......
YOU ARE THE ONE THAT BACKED OUT OF THE DEAL ORIGINALLY.

I don't know what arrangement you had amongst yourselves or with Randy, but I had agreed to drive them up halfway to Orlando and he called me to cancel.

What part of that don't you understand?????

So if you are no longer interested, why don't you just say keep quiet?

I made it very clear originally that I wanted all 4 sold.... that was the arrangement I had with Randy. AFter that it got very complicated and after all, you guys are the ones that approache me about splitting them up into 4, which I didn't and don't mind doing. BUT for some reason it was impossible to get 4 commitments for 4 of you.
Fabvsix
If you hire a "middle man" hire one that produces results. Too many cooks in the kitchen. I didn't care about your arrangement with Randy, nor how many other folks were interested in your other rims/tires. It was not my business to begin with. All I know if you guys bailed out after the case and put a bad taste in our mouths.....I hate it when the "wifes" get involved with these internet transactions or when I hire a consultant I always ask "is your WIFE the final decision maker or YOU"?

I have an 07 Odyssey Touring R&N. I haven't officially obtained a quote yet, but your figure seems to be below what some others are getting. Here is a thread from odyclub.com with some quotes. My Ody was bought new last month but I'm dreading replacement at 40K or under. Happily, that's also around the time I'll be replacing the tires on my 07 X.

No, the MDX TPMS will not work - you have to order Odyssey ones (Tim probably has them). If you're planning to swap to 19's on the MDX, you can keep em and then have your cake and eat it too. :D I'm looking into fitting the spare under the Lazy susan. I've heard it will not fit in the usual location but I haven't seen anybody confirm that.

Here are some threads again form odyclub:

Ody with Tech wheels

Ody with Sport wheels

Looks good, doesn't it?:D That last thread details the TPMS.

tech, sorry to take your thread so far off track....

I do like the look of your X... after I received my sport rims, I was actually thinking about a set of black aftermarket rims....

unfortunately, I probably can't do that unless I get the first set out of the garage lol.

I don't want my house to turn into a Tire Kingdom in the middle of Weston with 8 tires and rims in the garage, not to mention the wife will start complaining too, lmao!!!!
Fabvsix
We are cool! Now go get that electric blower and rid those returning spider webs! :D :D

BTW, I remember reading here a while ago someone had posted 3 sites that had tire/rim packages for the 07 x, yes I tried to search.
If any of you could remember it would be great.

one of them was Tirerack, I'd like to see the others..

Thanks.

ps... then I have 2 sets of rims/tires to sell, 1 sport, 1 non-sport !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The other day I was sitting in my doctors office waiting .....out walks a 90+ year old man......with his stroller mid way he stopped, looked at all us younger folks and the lady next to me said to him "have a nice day"......he looked at her with his heavy eye brows.....we were all startled then he said to her...."you know eveyone tells me to have a nice day.....but no one tells me to "have a nice night"! He smiled and we all laughed.....it was a moment to recall.....he might have been in mid 90's......

Yes, it does look good, and thank you very much for the links. Winter is coming up and driving on near end of life tires is not a risk I want to subject the wife and kids to. I definitely would like to have new tires on the van before the first snow shows up. I just have to figure the best route to go now. Unfortunately from the reading it appears that the rims should be a easy switch, but the tires will not work (rubbing issues).

I think some have swapped to RDX tires. So, if you find a cheap set of MDX rims, you can just buy a set of comatible (the RDX is 235/55/18) tires and you'll be good to go.
