Okay - the CHECK AIRBAG SYSTEM (Message 61-1) continues to give me a problem. It's been in service going on this week 4xs. They have completely replaced my seatbelt clip and harness. They kept it for a week last time and the service guy even got the error message. I have the GM and the SalesRep and Service involved now. Need to take it back again this week. Not good. This is messing with my safety big time. Not sure if the airbag system will deploy if needed. Dealer is being really cool about it (NW Arkansas/Fayetteville). I'm so sad....love the X. (Only have 2500 mi on it and got it in June 07).
Has anyone ever dealt with LEMONS?:8: |

| Sorry to hear that. What is your X's manufactured date? |

I would look up your states lemon laws and then contact Acura Customer Service. Based on the number of times they have tried to fix the issue, I am guessing that your car qualifies.
Tell Acura that you want it fixed on the next visit, or they should have an 08 ready to trade with you at no cost.
Not sure how that will fly, but it may motivate someone to get it done correctly. |

You're right- the airbag warning light is displayed when the airbag system has been turned off due to a malfunction. This is a major safety deficiency.
Here are my suggestions:
1 check into your state's lemon law- it will be either in teh Attorney General or motor vehicle department web site. Google your state name and lemon law, and you'll find it.
2. The inability to fix a major safety-related defect will qualify after a stated number of service visits or time in the shop.
3. WRITE A LETTER to the dealership, dispassionately notifying them that you intend to file a claim under the state's lemon law.
MAnufacturer's hate to have a vehicle declared and titled a lemon- they may make you a buyback offer right then. Negotiate your best deal. It should be at least a brand new 07 at no cost. It may be a brand new 08 at no cost.
Lemon laws were written to take the anxiety out of situations like this. Take full advantage of it. |

Update: 10/15
Car is still in shop - took it in last Wed.
They are planning on replacing the entire SRS (?) system.
They (the dealer) cannot figure out what the problem is.
Have not had the opportunity to meet/chat with the G.M. of the dealership yet. Apparently not in when I took the car in. However SalesRep is always available.
Have a loaner which is a basic model. Sure miss my X!!

| I would start doing whatever you have to do to get that car declared a LEMON and replaced. Without the airbags it doesn't meet the NHTSB requirements, I'm sure (whatever they are). There are attorneys out there who will assist you who specialize in this type of thing and Acura may be responsible for their fee. A friend of mine had a Ford Mustang Cobra. It would stop unnanounced while driving on the freeway at 70 mph, or anywhere else at any speed. Tried to work out a deal with the dealer but the dealer was too interested in making a buck. He hired an attorney. Got a new car and Ford/dealer ate the attorney fees. |

Did you contacted the manufacture when the message showed at the 4th time yet? You can only do the LEMON after the field engineer from HONDA come and fix the problem (only allow 15 days if beyond that you automaticly get a LEMON). After that if the problem still occur file a complaint to BBB (Better Business Bureau) and the manufacture will contact you and discuss about the solution. I just got a LEMON for my 07 TL type S. |

Add me to the list of MDX Airbag issues. Mine is in the shop for the forth (and final) time. It is very random when the indicator comes on.
Send me an email of you feel more comfortable. |

I had the check airbad system light come one when I accidentally drained my battery listening to music. Once it was charged up the problem went away. |

| Any new word on your car shortstuff? Mine is in full Lemon Law hell. If Acura doesn't respond within a few more days then I guess we go to court. This has been a very big pain in the behind. |
