The negative battery connector has started to develop a corrosion problem. To the extent that it sometimes won't start until I remove the connector, clean it and put it back. Sometimes even that wont work. So I have to restort to brute force approach of sanding/filing the inside of the connector.
I am not sure if thats the right way of doing it or not because wouldn't that scrape off the coating of the connector ? But at that time there was no other option to get it started and going. The mistake I made that time was I didn't apply petroleum jelly around it after.
For now I have sanded it again and applied petroleum jelly around it. Not sure how long it will hold up.
Do I need to get a new connector altogether ? How easy/difficult is it to replace it ? Seems like one of those "looks easy on the surface" jobs, until you go under and then wonder why you started it in the first place. |

| All purpose grease should work fine. |
