Just got my 2 directory-size Service Manuals last night. Lots more stuff in this than the manuals for my other cars. Some interesting things I noticed while thumbing through. Replacement of the active dampers is no different than conventional dampers except for just unplugging a switch on each damper. Rear is easier to remove since the damper is separate from the spring whereas the front has the usual spring/damper combo that requires a spring compressor to get the damper out. Not that I will be replacing them myself anytime soon but an interesting little tidbit. Also, spotted 2 typos already.

Deciphering the VIN from the explanation in the manual, my X is the 51,681st 2007 US model to roll out of the factory. Built and on my driveway in Aug.

Thanks for the info. Does the manual come with an electronic copy? .pdf or .doc

No, it does not. I wish it did. Will make searching easier but then having the manual can be quite handy when you are under the hood or the vehicle.

euginc. I'm trying to replace the 2 (non auto) window buttons (on driver's left hand) so that we can have ALL AUTO WINDOWS. Getting the 2 auto switches was easy, the hardest part for me is how to REMOVE.

Could you see if you can find a page or 2 about removing the door handle/buttons & stuff? Much appreciated.
eujinc
Will do. I'll get back to you this evening.

Lionspeed,
If you get this done, would you please post instructions and part numbers in another thread?

thanks,

LS, I'm looking at the manual right now. The window master switch looks like a single rectangular unit with the 4 window switches. Don't know how you can replace just the bottom non-auto switches.

Anyway, the master switch is screwed to the bottom of the arm rest. To get there, the manual says to remove the door panel. I think you don't need to. You can remove the grip cover (held by clips) which exposes the bottom of the arm rest. Then unscrew the master switch from below.

Let me see if I can get some pictures or scans.

Thanks so much eujinc. I shall get to work when I have a chance & will report. You are right about Acura ran out of fabric. This is on ALL MDX I believe. Cheap Acura, shame shame!

Do you know that that is going to work? I don't believe the switches are what make the windows have an "auto" setting.

eujinc,
If you have a chance to look at your manual again, could you please look at the side door lamps for me? I got a problem with the driver side door, it's NOT on when I open it, the other three work fine. I replaced a new bulb but still didn't work. I guess there something to do with the fuse, but I have no clue where is the fuse for this located at. Thanks
lausy
What about the auto reverse feature that are in the front windows? They may not be on the rear windows.
If it's true that all 4 windows come on one switch, you may be able to replace it with one from an RL which has 4 auto up/down window switch.

I'm pretty curious about this myself. Assuming that the window master switch is responsible for the Auto feature, it looks like the switch is a single unit that controls all 4 windows. Furthermore, there is that auto reverse function for the front windows. Don't know if that is available if the rear windows are automated.

We will see that LionSpeed finds out.

Sure, I'll get back to you this evening.

My objective right now is:

1. See if I can buy the 2 front "AUTO" switches & replace with the non auto ones.
2. If not possible, then see if I can copy/create/modify the non to auto.

... I'm leaning more #1.

quyenph, looking at the fuse layout, I can't seem to be able to find the fuse for the driver's door courtesy light. Fuse 6 is for the rear door lights and a bunch of other lights. Are any of your other lights out? Have you tried putting in the original bulb to see if it works. I wonder if the problem might be the connector. A bent pin perhaps.

Thank you so much eujinc, it's very good information. This is the only light that doesn't work. I have tried many different ways but no luck. I even took the working one from the other doors and plug in but still out of luck. I probably take it to the dealer for troubleshoot. The problem is I live 3 hrs away from the closet Acura dealer.

Thanks for your help.

quyenph, why don't you try to put a meter on the leads and see if you are getting power to it? I would take out a bulb from one of the working doors and put that in to make sure it's not a bulb problem. Also, when you open that door, does the rest of lights light up in the car, if not, it may be a door switch problem.

Good suggestion. I will try with the meter. I did swap the bulb from the working doors but it still didn't work. I think you are right, it may be the door switch problem. Thanks.

I went as far as I possibly could at the moment... no can't do. Missing couple of steps some how & couldn't remove the arm rest piece. This piece removal is important as it holds & covers the last 4 screws for the master switch. I'm not giving up just yet however a bit disappointed at myself.

:28:
eujinc
Hey LionSpeed, could you take a picture from the bottom of the armrest? I want to see what's covering the screws. The next page in the manual states the removal of the door panel. If you like, I can post that page. Was hoping you didn't have to remove the door panel.

Yes, and tire rotation.
crazymjb
Blah :(

As much as I love the spare tire method that means its probably time to go out and get some jack stands huh.

Is the pattern the same as for the TL?

Mike
eujinc
Same pattern as the TL. I would stick to the spare tire method. Might be a bit more work but good opportunity to eyeball the spare and check the pressure.
