Ok, I've done a little searching here, and I have only found one site that lists invoice for the 08s: nadaguides. Neither KBB nor Edmunds have pricing for the 08s out yet, as such would somebody so kind as to list it for me? Was there a price increase between my 07 and 08?
NADA says an 08 sport invoices at $41,592 + $715 dest for $42,307.
Thanks!

Really? Nobody has any solid intel on this?
I know that the big pricing matrix change between 07 and 08, was that Sport includes Tech. So does this mean the invoice for an 08 Sport is the same as an 07 Sport + Tech?

Nabbs,
The '07 Sport also included the Tech package -- this is NOT new for '08.
I too am waiting for Edmunds to put up invoice prices -- not sure what's causing the delay.

| The link that JIMH posted is right on for the Sport/Ent. I told the dealer that I will pay $500 over invoice and they charged me $44,802 which is what that website states. |

Go to carsdirect.com for invoices, depend on your area.
It is not much different in price between 07 and 08 except 2.9% ARP for 07 models, and a few hundred bucks more for the auto day/night mirror upgrade on 08 models.
Yes, Sport pkg includes Tech (there is no 07 sport/tech pkg like you said). There are Sport and/or Sport/Ent pkg. Do some reading and research, you will find a lot of useful information in this forum.
Good luck |

Looks like my target is in 43K range out the door.
Thanks all!

Sport has always included the Tech package, nothing new there for 08 |

Many thanks to all, I made an offer at Curry and am waiting to see if they can locate a car for me. Tomorrow (hopefully) I will finalize the paperwork.
I offered invoice + destination.

Well for anyone following my progress, made an offer today on a car. I offered to buy the car at invoice, take 32K, and put down $10K cash (I own the RDX outright). Maybe I made a mistake of bringing the Z06 to the dealer****, but they came back and wanted my RDX + $16K! So I offered another $500 but, man their return offer blew me out of the water! Got a call, and bent a little bit said I would take 30K on the RDX and pay 12K cash. Hopefully this will be the final offer, will put a grand on the cc over the phone and have the MDX in a few weeks. I managed to put a few nice scratches in my RDX since the last time it was appraised by Curry, so I don't want to switch dealers yet.
Sport Black/Black is what I am looking for.

| Nabbs, though it may or may not be too late, but you have muddy the waters by talking trade in value and sales price at the same time. Now you have no idea what you are paying for the new one or what you are getting for the trade in. Always negotiate the lowest price they are willing to sell the new car regardless if you trade or not, that way, you have the option of private sell the trade if they really low ball you or even bringing it to a carmax or similar. But in NY, you probably get a tax break for trading in so it may all be a wash anyway. |

Yes, selling privately is definately always an option. However, as you pointed out, I will lose on tax. In this case I will only be paying 8.75% sales tax on the difference between the trade and the MDX sales price (so 8.75% of 12K or ~$100). Not to mention, I hate dealing with private sale and tirekickers.
Trade-in on my car is between $30-$32K according to an average poll on kbb etc and invoice is $42.3K for the MDX, so 12K is the absolute limit on my budget. I pulled the old "there is another dealer willing to sell me an MDX at invoice," so let's see what happens. Unfortunately I probablly shouldn't have blinked and agreed this quickly to a price increase. As you pointed out what I am "paying" for the MDX is quite subjective since it is based on an arbitrary valuation on my trade. I am sure that dealership will do quite well on my 6,200 mile 11 month old RDX, so technically I will be losing a fair amount more. However, the sales slip will say that I "only" paid 12K for this thing (assuming they agree).
I really hate negotiating business like this on the weekends, but what can you do?
Thanks all! Will keep you posted as to the result.

Nabbs,
How would you describe your overall experience with the Curry sales guy(s) so far? Did you test drive with them? And if so, did the let you take it out a bit or was it one of those 5 minutes and back deals?
I also live in NYC, but I grew up about 10 minutes from Curry and would like to test drive/negotiate there. That said, I plan on doing virtually all of my negotiations via the Internet.
Anyway, if you have anything good or bad to say about them, I'd be curious.
More on topic specifically -- if they start dicking you around with your trade-in value you might just want to try your luck with another dealership and not mention your trade-in until after agreeing on a purchase price. Did you talk to anyone at Acura of Manhattan?

| You may want to reconsider your math on the taxes. Taxes should be paid on the price of the new car, not including the trade. the trade should only factor in the amount of cash you put into the deal. |

Wrong. NYS when you trade you are only taxed on the difference between the trade's value and the sale price of the new car. |

Mike -- Since this is the second car I am buying from them they treat me pretty well. They gave me the car to drive by myself, and I took it out for a good 15-20 mins and ran it through its paces. That being said, I still think you are better off going there in-person to close a deal. I really didn't like Manhattan Acura as the sales guy got psychotic with calling me. I have one sales guy I deal with Furman Byrd, nicest guy in the world. Not sure if he's good at closing the deals, but I like him. Right now the deal is stalled as I am at 30K for my car and 12.5 cash, or 500 over invoice. They don't seem to want to deal this far over invoice, and have countered at 14K, so we're $1,500 apart. We'll see what happens.

| Thanks for the correction. That's a nice deal then--especially for the dealers to keep trades coming in. |

Thanks for the info... I might try calling that guy when I'm ready to stop researching and start buying. There's a stretch of the Bronx River Parkway near Curry that I would love to "explore" alone in an X for 20 minutes... Would tell me everything I need to know about the car.
Good luck with the negotiations.
