The Fuzzy Hairs are here! - Click HERE for Original Thread

As was discussed with some people in the past, today I found white fuzzy hairs coming out of the leather interior. I went to get my MDX cleaned and my girlfriend looked at the back seat and asked, "What's that white stuff on the seat?" When she said that, I knew what she was referring to because this was a topic that was discussed before. Ironically, there are no fuzzy white hairs coming through my Driver's seat. It appears to be coming out of the front passenger seat and rear seat behind the drivers seat. I haven't had many passengers in my MDX which I just got on 12/27 so this kinda disturbs me. Is this covered by the warranty? How has other people dealt with the fuzzies? Please advise.
This is a common problem with Acura CL's as well. The hairs will usually come out after some washing/vacuming. Its really nothing to worry about, if you have any more questions just ask your dealer.

Thanks
Evan
Ah darn!
My wife spotted those fuzzy lil hairs on the demos at the dealer lots back in October. We were hoping that this was a problem with only the first ones built, and that Acura found and fixed the problem. As I recall, the last thread on this topic had no replies from people who purchased in Late Nov through Dec.. which increased my hopes that it was cured.
I picked up our MDX up on Dec 26 (the day before you picked your's up), and so far no hairs. But, I'll be on the lookout for those nasty varmets.
There is another thread on this topic under "Problems with your MDX"

My SS MDX with Ebony leather, purchased on 11/7/00, developed fuzzy fibers in its second week. I looked at the seats carefully tonight under a 25X magnifier. The threads are present in the passenger side (which seldom is used) but almost gone on the driver side, except in the areas of least wear. I have ebony leather. The 1 mm holes have <50-micron single gray fibers up to 8 mm long protruding through some of the holes--apparently from the padding or lining of the leather seats. Each fiber is easily removed with fingernail or forceps (I didn't spend a lot of time) but there appears to be a limited supply of fibers. I didn't tear off the leather to look underneath.

I think this is a self-limited problem but detracts from the sybaritic nature of the vehicle. Personally, I like the TL seats better, but I wouldn't trade for anything else at this point!

Oh no !!!!

I have the fuzzy aliens growing out of my passenger side seat !!

Just leave them alone and they will go away?
Don't worry A4L...
They will go away! Mine did. I think they only appear when you get your car cleaned and vacuumed.
A4L - It is more visible on ebony interior. I used a Lexol leather conditioner on a soft rag to wipe the fuzzy hairs out. Personally, I think Acura did not use a high quality leather on MDX. The driver seat is showing some wrinkles already. My other car with 5 yr wear and tear do not have this type of wrinkles and fuzzy hairs.
I took my GG Base in to fix the thud and Acura of Pasadena said they can cure the fuzzy seat problem! They take off the cover and shave the fuzz off from the inside! They even gave me a silver touring as a loaner. This is Acura Total Luxury Care at it's finest! They knew about both the thud and the fuzz and are fixing both.
