I have a 04 X with 30k on it. I need to keep it for next few years and would like your opinion on buying extended warranty, is it worth buying ...
here is What I got so far...
Acura dealer in RI:
$1575 ...... for 48 Months/ 48000 miles with 0 deductible
$1960 ....... for 60 months / 60000 miles with 0 deductible
HondAcuraworld:
$1780 ...... for 48 Months/ 48000 miles with 0 deductible
$1980 ....... for 60 months / 60000 miles with 0 deductible
Is this like the Factory warranty or are there any catch that dealers don't tell up front for coverage.

The 48 months and 60 months, is that the time BEYOND the original warrants or it is the total time of warranty?

| Iam assuming 48 months warranty to start from the end of the original warranty. Otherwise it doesn't make dollar sense. |

I have the Acura extended warranty on my '01. I took it to the dealer for work and the dealer said it required an Acura warranty inspector to approve the repairs . They had my car for a few days when the inspector came back w/ nothing is covered. In fairness I knew a few of the items were questionable, but I did not see any harm in asking. HOWEVER, two of the items are listed on my warranty as covered so we are still in discussion.
The warranty was sold as a continuation of the factory warranty. If it requires additional inspections before they complete/pay for the repair I wouldn't agree. |

I got the papers today for the extended warranty( Glad I didn't sign em )
This looks like 3rd party ( Carefree Car protection) Mechanical Failure Service Contract, that has some some silver/gold/goldplus Coverage ( wtf is covered don't know).
Acura Care extended service plan would be much more expensive so dealer Rep was saying that there is some companay Gemini ... offering coverage on Acura/BMW/Mercs. I'm putting this on hold till I talk to Hondauraworld again. Seems like a racket for $1575 ....
Does anybody have any words of wisdom on which Genuine Acura extended plan should be bought....

Since there's only one version of the AcuraCare coverage, the best thing to do is choose based on your driving habits, and for how long you intend to own the vehicle.
Remember, it's an insurance policy, so you have to weigh the potential benefits versus the potential costs of repair during that timeframe.

| I just purchased my first Acura, an 04 MDX Touring W/nav., 64500 miles, excellent shape in and out. $22,995.00 and they threw in an an after market RES. at a local auto sound company. The dealer stated to me that I have 12/12 coverage on everything and the balance of the 7/100K powertrain. I purchased for $800 an extended warranty to give me the same 12/12 coverage to 100K or 10/21/10. I thought this was a pretty solid deal. I will (hopefully not) see how the warranty coverage works if I have a problem. Glad to find this site, some very knowledgeable people on here and a great help to us newbies. |
