Hello anyone....just recently bought an MDX '06...runs smooth and purrs like a kitten....issue i'm having (with only 20k kms) is when in park and moving to reverse....bit of a 'clunk' as the gear locks into place....
all other 'shifts' are smooth and seamless...
anyone experience this or know what it might be? |

Are you parking on a hill?
If you are, you need to apply the parking brake before you release the foot brake when parking. And when leaving you need to apply the foot brake before you release the parking brake then shift to reverse. That should take care of the "thud".
Not on a hill, might got some major tranny issues. |

| This is normal and is part of the transmission disengaging, the car rolls back a little bit when put in park and the brake is released, this puts a strain on the locking mechinsim in the transmission. When you shift out, the strain results in a popping noise, best way to fix, stop car, put parking brake on, shift into neutral and let car stop on parking brake, then depress brake pedal and shift to park. |
