I took my 07 in for a clicking sound and I was assured that a "special
shim kit" would take care of the issue, well it didn't, I still have a click
and a knock, also if my window is cracked down slightly I have a rattling window, I do not have the time to keep going back to these
incompetents to fix these quality issues, I feel that acura is turning into the gm of old and gm is turning into the acura of old, by this i mean that the quality on this 07 compared to my 05 is horrible, acura as far as i am concerned is crap, just read all the posts about
vibration, cheap ass interiors, hood bounce, whistling noises, the list goes on and on, I should have saved myself 10000 and bought a subaru tribeca, or better yet kept my 2005:3: |

New MDX is built in Canada (Ontario) by ex-Ford, GM employees.
Same old mentalities, get it off the assembly line as fast as possible, let the warranty deal with irregularities.
I wish ALL Japanese vehicles were built in Japan. Toyota is building more and more vehicles in the US and quality is dropping significantly.
BTW, Tribeca ranked second when I bought my MDX.
The Acadia felt so underpowered, with its confused transmission that I have scratched it off the list very rapidly.
Bottom line, do I love my non-perfect MDX? YES. |

Not to rub it in, but my X is running flawlessly and the interior (which is one of the nicest I've settled my arse in), is as tight as a drum. I would humbly posit that owing to the nature of this forum, that more problems find their way onto the board than positives. For instance, since my X doesn't click, clunk, knock, vibrate, pull to the right, shake its' hood, rattle its' windows, pop its' speakers, spit out DVDs, etc., I'm not posting or commenting about these issues. Yes, I do have the air recirculation whistle over 70mph, which I understand has a fix, but that's it.
True, I've only got a biscuit over 3000 miles on the clock, but as it stands, my X is a winner. Something tells me that I'm not the only one who has a "clean" example of the species in his garage.

I have over 10k on mine, these quality issues cropped up at approx 5k, I have a build date of June 07, it is just
frustating that their is no shortage of incompetents at the dealership level, at least, "knock wood" my x hasn't left me stranded, |

That's my biggest worry, frankly -- that if and when problems do arise, that the dealership experience is going to be enough to make me tear my hair out. Cars are complicated machines, and problems will arise; the question is whether or not the dealership will stand by their product and fix it in a timely, professional manner. The obvious question here, ductman, is whether or not you have the option of taking your X to an alternate dealer for service. In my case, I have a couple to choose from, should Acura of Manhattan fail to meet my standards (though from a convenience standpoint, it would be easier for me to bring it back to its' "home dealership").
As for leaving you (or any of us) stranded, let's hope that the "bones" of the car -- engine, transmission, suspension -- are up to the task. I don't know about anyone else here, but intend to keep this car for at least ten years, so these are things that really matter to me.

My 06MDX was out performing this large crossover Acadia on a constant turning interstate highway over 70+ MPH without me stepping on the brake, the Acadia was braking.
I would have own the Acadia if I had the new MDX SH-AWD... :1: |

I just received a call from the service manager as I had just filled out
his online survey that he e-mailed to me, he assures me that he will
be personally involved in this to solve this knocking issue, I am going
to wait until my next service visit since
1. I do not have the time to spare
2. I am assuming this is just an annoyance and not an issue
And craniotes, this is the first vehicle I have purchased and not leased, I drive approx 30000 miles per year and I hope as well as you hope that I can get at least 150k without any major issues. |
