| 1st oil change, what else do you do?

I am getting near first change. I left the oil in as it's being reported by the computer we have 20% left at 6000 miles.
I wonder if you guys go all the way down to 0% left and let the computer tell you or do you change it sooner.

eye ball all the fluid levels
Set your oil reminder back to 100%
Rotate your tires
Check transmission fluid that it is RED in color by way of dip stick. Allow a drip of the oil to drop on a white paper towel. Healthy oil will "spread" and be red in color not brown or have a burn smell....
I change my oil every 5K miles regardless.... |

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON
(II) position.
2. If the engine oil life is not
displayed, press the SEL/RESET
button on the steering wheel
repeatedly the multi-information
display shows blank, SH-AWD and
tire pressure.
3. Press and hold the SEL/RESET
button on the steering wheel for
more than 10 seconds. The
remaining engine oil life reset
mode will be shown on the multiinformation
display.
4. Select RESET by pressing the
INFO ( / ) button, then press
the SEL/RESET button to reset
the engine oil life display. The
maintenance item code(s) will
disappear, and the engine oil life
will reset to 100. If you want to
cancel the oil life reset mode,
select CANCEL. |

What else needs to be done with the first oil change?
mine has 50% of oil life, I don't know if i am going to wait til it goes down to 0 for the oil change. I am going to change it when my X hit 3500 or 4000 miles. I also wonder if there's a big difference when u do the oil change at 3500mile and 5000+miles. |
