My MDX currently has about 12k miles on it. Just wondering how much MPG are you guys getting on average?
On a full tank I typically refill at 250-260 miles. Mostly drive highway miles with the occasional side streets just to get food and GAS!
What's the most you've got on a Full Tank? |

| you must drive it really hard. I usually get around 350 if its mostly highway and about 300 or so with city/hwy. |

I think this maybe a futile conversation as one person may fill up at 1/4 on the guage, the other when the yellow light comes on.
What MPGs are you getting, both on the computer and by calculating via miles / gallons.
I am getting about 20-20.5, I drive a healthy mix of highway and city, but more highway. |

| When I was in route this morning to fetch some Chelada for the weekend, while sitting at the red light, NO radio on I hear this faint clicking noise coming from the rear door. I have the rear gate lift.....does someone know if it is that gear burning eletricity. It also does it while parked with key in my hand. I sat in the middle seat and could hear it about every 30 seconds or so....got any idea this may be? |

I'm very interested in the results of this thread as well. I recently purchased an '07 X with 13,500 miles on it. I have just gone through my first full tank of gas.
I filled up with 225 miles showing on Trip A (auto reset). My trip computer was showing 15.2 mpg. Range indicated was 85 miles. I would say that 60 miles of the total 225 was highway, the rest was stop and go driving and off road driving around my jobsites, plus some extended idling (it's cold here in NY!)
I was hoping that the computer was being pessimistic....wrong! The X took almost exactly 15 gallons to fill up, working out to almost exactly 15 MPG.
I noticed that on when I first got the car, the range stayed at 85 as I did a 90 mile highway roundtrip, so I'm guessing the computer is pretty accurate.
Here's hoping it gets better!
Also, anyone note that the ratings for '08's are now 15 / 20? |

That's because starting with the 2008 model year the EPA has changed the methodology it uses to measure MPG to better reflect real-world driving. As such, pretty much every car has seen its mileage suffer in relation to 2007's figures.
FWIW, I'm averaging about 18mpg, with a mix of city/highway/'burbs driving. The absolute best I've averaged was 23.5mpg on a trip from NYC to Montreal, where pretty much 100% of the driving was a steady 70-80mph on I-87.
Let's face it, this ain't no Prius...

| 15.5 mpg city/highway (NYC), the highest mpg my MDX ever experienced was 25.6 (99% highway on a long trip). |

Honestly, I thought that was for 2007...whoops, my bad. |

With about 7,000 miles on mine, I'm getting about 18 in town and on the two short trips I've taken, I've gotten about 21.5 - 22 highway.
True this isn't a Prius (thank God), but IMO that's not bad mileage for a 4,500 lb. SUV!

Averaging about 22-23 for my 75 mile mostly back roads/highway round trip per day. Mixed city/highway is more like 19. No complaints at all.
I also have a Chevy Avalanche 3/4ton with 8.1l motor that gets about 10-12 no matter what (ouch).

That's been my experience, almost exactly.
On the 2001 MDX, driving the same roads, I can't get the trip meter to go above 18.9 MPG.
So far, it appears that the 07 gets about 2+ MPG better mileage. |

| I'm getting 18 MPG overall with 50:50 mix City:HWY |

| I have a 2008 MDX. The best I got is 23.3 for a 200 miles trip, 90% highway. When at local, it's about 16.5 mpg. |

| 16.3 miles MPG over about 4,000 miles. I would love to get 18+... |

I live in the bay area as well. I drive highway, but with all the traffic and hills, I am lucky to get 17MPG. I am in the 15 to 16 range most of the time.
On a long trip open highway, I get more like 22 to 24. |

| As per my trip computer, for over 6800miles, I have averaged 19.8 MPG. |

I forgot to mention my routine driving habits:
90% of my driving is back and forth to work about 6 miles with speed limits of 55mph and 45 mph with 3 lights. |

| My 08 has about 3100 miles on it and I'm averaging 19.9 mpg with every tank. This is mostly stop and go city driving. I drove from TN to Washington DC recently and got 26-27 mpg. I thought that was great! (Especially since I just traded my 15mpg Tahoe.) |

Since April, with mostly mix highway/city, I average 19.0. Max of 22.8 on recent trip (Mountain driving in CO,AZ,NM and UT). Worst I've seen in 15.8 with some towing this summer...
HUD is actually optomistic every tankful by about 1 MPG. |

| Haven't touched the Trip B since I took delivery of the X and so with 3200 miles, mainly city driving, I'm averaging about 17 mpg. Went on one 400 mile road trip and saw about 23 to 24 mpg when mainly highway driving. |

My average over 9750 miles (since March 31st) is 18.3 on a mixture of highway (80mph) and curvy mountain roads.
I drove to Bakersfield and back yesterday (2hours highway each direction). Going down the grapevine, my X read 48mpg! Now, if only I could always travel downhill. Overall, the entire trip worked out around 24mpg. |

Just did a 100 mile round trip, just about 80 mph each way. Average, according to the computer, was 21.5.
Am I missing something, or is there no "instantaneous MPG" reading? |

| 500 miles, mostly city driving 12-13mpg. How did they come up with 15 even with the revised 2008 epa estimates. This hurts at $3.49 gallon. |

It will get better when the engine loosens up. |

17 mostly all the time.
on my hwy trip up north, best I got was 20.0 but I usually see the 17.
could be worse, my Armada only got 12 highwy or city, it was painfull. |

| 2008 MDX just broke 1000miles recently. Drove from Vancouver to Seattle last night, filled up in Blaine and reset the trip computer. I averaged 23mpg 100% highway. In the city I don't think I've averaged even 15mpg! I hope it gets better as the engine breaks in. |
