Music Link Permanently Discontinued? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Ever since I bought my Acura MDX in early July, I've been waiting for the release of the revised Musiclink. Today I got a call from Nalley Acura in Marietta, GA, informing me that Acura has decided to permanently cancel the MusicLink.

Bad news indeed. I have a Sport+Ent 2007 MDX, and the MusicLink was the one feature of my 2006 RL that I was really missing when I drove the X. He recommended that I check on an aftermarket source... but he then added that he didn't know of any good aftermarket units that worked with the Sport+Ent 2007.

*sigh*

USA SPEC HON2Y, I have it in my TL and it is flawless. The musiclink is crap and doesn't work half the time. I plan to get it for my sport/Ent

Been using this gadget for over 7 months. Works wonderfully with either 8GB nano or 30GB Video Ipod. Flawless music control from your steering wheel. The sound quality is phenomenon, way better than cd/dvd/mp3. Use 320 kb/s mp3 is highly recommended.

Does the USASpec offer any on-screen data?

I know its kinda a pain in the a, but i got an A/V cable and hooked it up into the back A/V slots and ran it next to the drivers seat. And choose AUX for the stereo. It works great. No music display on dash but it works for me. Easiest cheapeset way to use ipod in car.

I'm currently using AV cables and a Belkin remote controlled Ipod dock (designed for home use, but I've got the standard 120v power outlet in the console, so I'm pluggin it in there) so that I can keep the iPod charged and use some sort of remote... but I really miss the steering wheel controls that I had when I was driving a 2006 RL with MusicLink.

I have the 2007, 2nd gen MDX with this connection to my ipod since April this year. If this connection doesn't work on 07... you'd think I'd know by now? Hello

Yes & no. In certain model, it allows ipod to display song title & stuffs of your choice but XM will be disable. I want to keep XM the way it is so this USA Spec is perfect for me. It however only displays song number & length of the song. Another advantage of this USASpec is when people get into my car, they have absolutely no clue what source of audio is playing.

:)

Ah--there's my problem. I also have XM, and I want to keep everything working--RES/DVD, 6 disc changer, XM, AM, FM, and the iPod connection.

(Yes, I'm an entertainment junkie!...)

So if I have XM, the USA Spec works, but it won't allow for any song title/artist display, correct? (That's no worse off than I was with the MusicLink, but I just wanted to make sure I understood correctly.)

Does displaying song title/artist display really really necessary? I know all my +3000 320kb/s mp3 (25GB) songs with tittle & artist by heart. :1:

Hey LionSpeed:

How difficult was the install? I just ordered the usa spec hony2 and can't wait to put it in, but I'm not sure how the dash comes apart. Did you do it yourself? Any diagrams or information on how the dash comes apart (or even pointing me in the right direction) would be much appreciated.

USA SPEC does not allow for any text display, and it will allow XM, AM, FM, 6 disk and everything else to function properly. You can opt for a new kit, called DICE, that offers text display.

BUT this comes at the cost of loosing XM.
