| I just got the 08 base MDX and it came with the Bridgestone Dueler H/L 400. how do they compare to the Michelin Latitude Tour HP. should I replace the bridgestones with something else and put the bridgestones on fleabay? Overall the MDX handles pretty well, although haven't put it through spirited driving conditions. It's a little hard with 2 car seats in the back. |

Let me preface this by saying, I have no experience with those particular Duelers.
Now, having said that. I will say that the Dueler H/L 689's that came on my Pathfinder were the WORST tires I have EVER owned or driven on in almost 20 years of driving. Terrible wear, noisy, bad wet traction and downright dangerous snow traction. I actually ran snows in NY / NJ rather than those.
Reading the reviews on the tire rack, these seem to be better, but not a lot.
I'd sell them if you can. |

If you are truly interested in how they compare go to tirerack.com and compare both tires. Tirerack has a very good, test, spec, and review section, and a lot of in depth information on tires. |

| I have the base with the bridgestones, 11k on them, handle surpisingly well in the rain, I never had a michelin that handled well in the rain, IMO , a better tire than the Michelin |

I don't have any experience with Bridgestones, but I've read some suspect things about the Michelin's handling in ice and snow. It's my understanding that the Latitudes were designed with "sporting" SUVs in mind (they come OEM with BMW and Porsche as well), so they're geared more towards dry pavement handling. That's great for the spring, summer and fall, but as Borat would say, when it comes to winter, "not so much."

Adam |

I personally like the Michelin's over Bridgestone. However I do not get snow down here.
On another note, we as a forum have hit a new LOW. A quote from Borat!
May you not encounter the "Sleeve like Wizard" and fall in!

TireRack user submissions places them in the "good" category for deep snow and ice and in the excellent category in light snow.
Being a new owner that hasn't been through a winter yet in a climate that will give me snow and ice driving conditions, I was hoping others with the Michelins could share their experiences.
I know they are mostly designed for dry or wet driving, but I am hoping to hear some good reports on their handling in snow.
If not, I may have some tires for sale with less than 100 miles on them... |

There are definitely Michelins that are better than others, but honestly you can suss that out by reading the tire rack reviews. I find them to be very accurate if you take the time to weed through the BS posts.
As for Michelins in the rain, my old Jeep had Goodyears that were pretty decent except for wear. Switched to Bridgestones....not so happy. Switched to Michelins...much happier. Including in Rain. My Pathfinder came with the previously mentioned Bridgestones, and I switched to Michelin Pilots. Amazing in all conditions, including snow (not as good as dedicated snows).
My Volvo is now on its second set of all season Michelins and is absolutely tank-like in the rain and passable in the snow.
I think you have had some bad experiences that are not representative of the brand as a whole. My in laws run Michelin's on their Volvos (S70, XC90, XC70) and have ZERO complaints. |

Same here - the stock Dueler H/L 400's on my Base MDX are TERRIBLE. Brand new, they hydroplane dangerously in even shallow standing water at freeway speeds - front of MDX drifts sideways. The tread pattern is a generic highway car tire. |

| I've have been a Mich's fan since the early 90's. My MDX (non-sport) came with the Bridg & let me tell you that ride was rough. I then came back & tell them to put Mich on.... Long story short, I ended up purchase the sport rims which come with Michelin. :29: |

Got my Acura Sport Rims today with the stock Michelins. The deal was set-up by my Acura Salesman. I had asked him when we bought our MDX in August if he ever had someone who wanted to sell their Sport rims to let me know - never expected to hear anything back. Well, he had an MDX Sport buyer last week who upgraded to the 19" Acura Chrome Rims and wanted to sell his Sport rims and tires. $1,400 out the door today! Mounting them on the MDX this weekend. Will let you know how the stock Michelins do in the next tropical downpour on the freeway.
If you are ever looking to buy an Acura in Hawaii, this guy is the best car salesman I have worked with in 30 years. Colin Sato at Pflueger Acura - he is their Internet Sales Manager. I did not know him before we started the purchasing process for our MDX. Now I consider him a personal friend. This is a first for me in buying any car (about 12 in the last 30 years).

He has his own blog and I know he had done a great video review of the RL a couple of years back.

Yea, I've been around the block a couple times or so...
Old School you know. That's why I didn't want Nav - too many buttons to push. The Bluetooth phone link is enough hi tech for me in the car.

Got the cargo net, not the organizer. Thought that was below the radar for putting it on my list though. The net is very helpful keeping grocery bags from sliding all over the back when the third row is down.
Thanks, HT |
