Memery seat issue - Click HERE for Original Thread

I was trying to set the positions on the memory seat and everything works except the front/back adjustment. Which is the main reason for doing the memory adjustment in the first place as my wife is shorter than I am. It works up and down and the reclining position but not front to back. Has anyone else experienced this and also It is weird when you are adjusting the seat front to back it only moves in increments then you let off of the switch and back on it will move a little more. It weirded me out at first I was thinking man this seat should move a little bit further back so I would push the switch back and it would move a little more then I would do it again and it would move some more. It is the same for moving forward only a little at a time. The passenger seat does not do this it will move as long as you are holding the button. It is a 2004 touring.

It sounds like a problem. Mine works perfect.

Maybe this thread will help:

I looked at that thread earlier and it looked like a potential help so I went out and pulled the access panel off the seat. I cannot see where anything is rubbing or crimped or striped or misrouted. I think that in 04 they put some extra plastic insulation in that area to help out with the problem mentioned in the other thread. While I had the panel off I tried to use the forward and back and it changed nothing still moved in short increments. Thanks though. This may or may not be related to the memory seat issue. When I hit the memory button it does not even try to move forward or back. It is like it is just going to do the height, recline, and mirrors only.

Your front to rear slide motor is shot. Inside of it is a position memory device, when it goes, the seat moves 1" and stops. You will need to get a new slide motor installed.

It is not the motor. I sure am glad I did not go out and buy a new motor and put it in. I found a service bulletin that describes my problem.

It is the power seat slide position sensor. The interesting thing is that it is for 2001-2003 touring. My car is a 2004. Yet the problem is identical to what they are describing and it solves the memory issue since that is the purpose of the sensor. Now is there anyone who has pulled the drivers seat out?

You are right about the sensor but the bulletin says that the sensor can be replaced without replacing the motor. I hope that is true. I am off to the stealer to see if they will help me out since I am 1k miles out of warranty.

I am aware of the bulletin, but the dealer may tell you it is not available for the 04 due to a design change. Hopefully they will pick up the tab under warranty.

The writer told me there was nothing he could do about getting it under warranty since I was not the original owner and since it was a thousand miles out. I have a friend of a friend who works on the Honda side of the dealer who is going to try to get it warranted for me. I will keep you posted. I am trying to get the steering wheel volume control taken care of also.

They kept the x all day and called me at the end of the day to say that the seat position sensor is bad and that I have a bad ground on the volume switch on the steering wheel. They have to order the parts to fix it so I will take it back in when they have the parts. They did say that they will good will both issues at no charge to me. They washed it and were very nice.

OK- Are you going to apologize for calling them a "stealer"?
bamabluemodena
No I am not. The same writer that I dealt with is the one that told me to my face a week ago that there was nothing he could do to get it covered under warranty. So I went around him to a friend of mine that works on the Honda side and he said he would get it handled for me. If I had not had the connection then I would be 400 dollars out of pocket. Not only that but when I called him that afternoon to check on the status he told me that it was not caused by the position sensor and that the technician was trying to figure out what the problem was. Then I get a call that it was the sensor after all. Oh well.
