I recently brought a 2007 MDX back to Canada. It only has a white DVD (version 4.55A), which is for the United States and Southern Canada. Alpine Electronics advised me to wait until the end of January 2008 to buy a gray Canada DVD since the Canada 2-DVD package would also include an update to my current white DVD.
I am able to obtain a Canada DVD version 4.31C, but my Navi system does not load it because it is an older version. I have two questions.
First, can I "reprogram" my 07 navi system to use the older Canada version 4.31C DVD and is this advisable? If yes, can some knowledgeable person provide me with instructions? Thanks.
Second, will there be a problem next February when I purchase the latest Canada DVD and attempt to upgrade the navi system at that point in time? |

I only know what I have read here, I haven't tried this myself.
The process I read is as follows -
Insert new (well, old in this case) DVD
Undo One Battery terminal for a few minutes
When you reattach the terminal and turn on the car, it should reload the software from the DVD
If it doesn't work, you won't be any worse off than you are now, other than resetting the clock and radio pre-sets |

Thanks. I will give it a try.
Do you know whether I will need to use the navi code and the radio code to reactivate these devices when I start the vehicle? I have read that some people have had problems in that area. I am a little skeptical about doing anything that might require dealer intervention. The local (Calgary) Acura dealers have not taken kindly (okay they are downright hostile) to owners who bought their vehicles in the states. So, if something goes awry and I need dealer assistance I expect that I wil be SOL. |

| I don't know, but it should work if you do need to enter them. If you have issues, call the Acura care number and they can probably help you through it |

| Everytime your battery gets disconnected, you have to re-enter the codes. It's not too difficult, and you should have them on a plastic card in your leather manual case. |

| I would love to hear what you do as well. I will be bringing up a MDX from the states soon as well. |

hi eltoro
just curious - alpine told you that there would be a new version coming out in Jan 2008? i noticed that the 4.62 version just came out a couple of months ago... it would seem odd to put out a new version so soon. i'm also in the same boat as you and i've been debating forever about buying the 2-dvd package even though i don't need the US dvd. just wondering if i should wait until Jan 2008 as well. thanks! |

Hi theauditor:
My understanding is that the latest US (white) DVD is available and is being shipped with the 08 vehicles. However, the Canada (gray) DVD equivalent version will not be available until next year. BTW, Canadians have to buy a 2-set DVD package, which will include the gray and white disks. Apparently, there is no option to buy the gray DVD alone.
So, if you are only looking for a white (US and Southern Canada) DVD, you may not have to wait. However, if you want the latest gray DVD (Canada and Northern US), you would be wise to wait until net Jan/Feb.
You may want to confirm this with Alpine before making any purchasing decisions.
Hope this helps
Cheers
