I recently installed the Manik chrome sidesteps and they look great but dont feel nearly as 'sturdy' on the stock ones that came on my explorer. I noticed that on the Acura sidesteps there are actually three mounting points (one on both ends, and one in the middle) whereas the Manik only has mounting points on each end. Have others noticed that the Manik steps 'bounce' abit? I just wonder why the Maniks dont use the middle mounting holes that are in the MDX.
Thanks in advance for your comments. |

| I have not noticed that the Maniks bounce. Are you sure you've tightened all the bolts? |

I also noticed the same thing. That's just the way they are. They should hold, just dont jump on them. You'll get used to steping on them lightly like I did. Here's a discussion on this as I posted the same question.

Cool, a Zepplin fan, like your sig!
I'm all over my steps, mostly to get up to the roof, and I'm not particularly light. (not particularly heavy either :))
While the steps are fine, I need two new pads (see 'cracked step' post).
I'll keep on using them without the kid gloves, expecting that they're meant to be stepped on... |

Thanks for the comments. I had trouble with the passenger rear bracket lining up with one of the two holes, but I just had to move things around abit. Did you screw the bracket into the hole closest to the rear end or the hole closest to the front end?
One of the black pads on my passenger sidestep didnt seat all the way down on the chrome step and 'bounced' from the gap between the pad and step. I called manik and they second day aired two new pads out to me.
Thanks again for all your help. I guess I just needed alittle reassurance. :-) |
