Did everyone get what they were looking for shopping today? I didn't think this BF was as good as years past. Didn't really see much that got me excited. I was out @ 5:00am and the crowds to me didn't seem that large.

So what says you? Wait in the long lines? Get some killer deals?

I just slept thru the madness. They expect people to spend less year due to the economy.

Black Friday is mostly hype and little real bargains. At least not bargains on items that were stocked in sufficient quantities in my experience today.

Went to 3 stores for three advertised specific items and none were in stock. These were items that were advertised as being on sale Friday & Saturday and not part of the early 5 or 6 hour specials. Not only were these items not in stock but not one could be ordered and all stores did not offer rain checks. Although I went to the stores long after their 5 AM opening these items were gone before 10 AM.

When I asked the stores showed me the fine print on the ads and sure enough they said "quantities limited" & "no rain checks".

I think they were hoping that I bought other items after they had got me into their stores looking for the scantly stocked special priced items that were gone. They were wrong.

Woke up late. Went into Fry's right before noon and most fun stuff were sold out. The checkout line was 2 or 3 hours long - didn't need anything this badly to get into this long line. Can go back tomorrow or later. Anyways we went over to Best Buy, Staples and Home Depot instead. Best Buy was pretty crowded but has a short line out. No line/wait at Staples and Home Depot.

A woman was trampled when the doors to the Sunnyvale Fry's opened. This story made the news in cities outside the SF Bay Area.
