I occassionally hear a metallic grinding sound from under the hood while going uphill and while accelerating. I have a 2003 MDX with 60k miles. What could be the problem?
Thanks |

Get ready for a tranny replacement.
Does it sound like rumble strips they put on the street? |

| I had the same problem, it sounded like rumble strips. I have a 2005 MDX. Just took it into my dealer and they are going to replace my torque converter. Since I have the 100,000 transmission warranty, it's all covered. ( I have about 46,000 miles on it.) I would take it in and see if you're having the same problem. My noise would occur going between 20-40 mph going up an incline. |

That kinda sounds like mine. But it doesn't affect performance right? I haven't noticed anything other than the noise. |

I had the same problem that was discribed. I just baught my 2003 mdx 4 days ago. I heard the same grinding noise at 30-35 mile an up small enclines using 5d. I just had my transmission power flushed
and the problem wen't away. My mdx has 59,000 miles on it.
I'll keep you updated. |

I did get a transmission flush and the sound is much less frequent.
The metallic grinding more frequent on a cold engine than warmer car so I am guessing some problem with fluid circulation.
No problem in driving or performance otherwise so far.
One qs. - When does the transmission oil needs to be replaced? Book says 15k and 45k. Dealer says 30k and 60k.
