I just had a 15k service.
The dealer wanted to take apart and clean the calipers...I thought that was a bit too much -- (I didn't see why I should pay $100 for that service).
But isn't it trivial to look at the pads when you pull the tires? (they didn't).
The service writer wrote "no brake work" (that didn't stop them from charging me for some brake item $12) -- they took this off the bill...There was also another item "$10.87 -- battery cleaning" -- I just gotta wonder about that...(as parts?)
[Actually I told them to do "the recommended services by Acura"]
Interesting how in a $300+ service they talk about the "complimentary alignment check"...
Ended up paying $225 labor for about 90 minutes of work...!! |

| I would advise while you are still under warranty to not do the "recommened services" or the "15K Service". Look in the owner's manual and tell them exactly what you done (oil change, tire rotation, etc). If you price it out, the inspections cost you a small fortune!! |

| As a general rule, I have them do only specific things, and do not ask for a general service, like the 15K miles service. Yes, the inspections come out to be real expensive. For inspections, I bring it in to a place like Firestone or Goodyear when they have coupons prior to making a long trip. If you look for coupons, many places have oil changes and tire rotations at inexpensive prices. |

You are correct that it is easy to see the pads when the wheels are off.
Never heard of "cleaning the calipers."
