If any of you want the name and number I will post it.

$125 for the pair and they have all measurements etc now. I asked and he told me he will be glad to make them and ship to you.

took 2 days only.

That looks good and matches the interior color well.

Looks good, but like a beautiful lady from Soudy Arabia, original stuff is hidden!

Looks nice. better than I thought it would

What's the point of having nice leather when you have to hide it all the time. This takes the whole point away from having nice leather. I'd rather spend $125 on a nice belt that wouldn't mark the leather. However, if you could live with the seat covers then I guess that's up to you.
skinny
I would have to agree. Why not spend it on a good detail when you need it? How or where is the seat belt ruining the leather before?

They look OK but I'll pass. I'd rather scuff up my bordeaux seats than sit on cloth. These covers might be more useful for the 2nd and 3rd row for the kids.
Heat00
its not the seat belt its the belt from my dress pants. and yes, it is a $100 belt, not some cheap belt. there are many others on this board who have reported the same problem.

I would much rather sit on canvas and not destroy the cheap ass leather that Acura installed into these cars. imagine what it will look like in a year without covers.

Seat covers are a good idea if the leather is being damaged. The next owner will be able to enjoy the undamaged leather.

The custom seat covers look fine and they'll help protect your leather seats. Though I'm not interested in covering up the leather seats in my MDX, I would consider it if my seats were being damaged.
LionSpeed
I hope your wife appreciates your effort. After all, isn't she the next candidate to take over your MDX?
Tank55
Sorry but I think those seat covers are butt ugly (just my opinion). I spent the extra cash for the sport leather and I'm going to enjoy them. I'm tired of saving my car for the next guy who buys it.

You seats look as though they're about to be sent to a non-Geneva Convention signatory country, and interrogated by CIA operatives at a "black site". (Can you say "waterboarding"?) For their sake, I hope they talk...

But seriously, at least the color matches, and you won't have to worry about any further discoloration.

Regards,
Adam
Heat00
Actually, you hit it right on. I was talking to her the other day about taking it over so I could get a new car sooner lol :)

I'm just suprised how many people here think they're ugly and disgusting. If they had the problems I was having they wouldn't make those comments. Obviously they are not as nice as the leather underneath, but then again, the leather ain't going to look to good after 12 months with Acura using cheap ass leather. It was only 3 months and I had black that wouldn't come off and a 2" rip in one of the other seats.

Thank you all for the wonderful comments, next time I won't bother posting my comments or posting pics for you.

It's really disapointing, I mean I see some of the things you guys do your cars and if I don't like it I don't come on here and rip you and your modifications. I have seen pics here with some of your x's that have terrible ugly looking rims, do I come on and say how ugly they are what a mistake??

And, no I didn't put these on for the next owner, however, my wife may in fact be the next owner. What does it hurt to take care of a $40,000 ride?
When you go to sell it and someone sees your stinkin interior all trashed, they are going to wonder about the mechanical and how you took care of the rest of the car, so it doesn't hurt.

So, a $10 vinyl belt would have saved you $90 + $125, on top of the $2,000 worth of leather in the MDX, that now looks like any entry level SUV. I will stick with my stained leather.

On the other hand, if you are planning to resell your MDX in the future, your pristine seats will be a big plus.

The least you can is to show your support from a member to a member. Thanks for ripping Heat the way you did. Nice going.

Whoa, there Heat... This is an open forum, so you've got to expect the good with the bad (and looking back over this thread, I don't think anyone was getting truly out of line with their comments). As for my "waterboarding" comment, I couldn't resist -- I mean, c'mon, the headrests do look like they're bent over and wearing hoods...

Look, what's important here is that you're happy with the solution (and believe me, I give you credit for taking the bull by the horns and having these covers made). Lord knows if I were in your shoes I wouldn't be terribly pleased with Acura either, but honestly, you can't expect everyone here to agree with the route you took, particularly in light of the fact that your dealer has stated that they'll redo your interior for the duration of the warranty.

Regards,
Adam

PS - FWIW, if I had the same interior issues you do, and my dealer wasn't as accommodating as yours is, I'd put covers on my seats as well for precisely the reasons you stated.

PPS - Maybe the Sport leather is different, but there's nothing "cheap ass" about my seats.

Heat just a heads up, I'd check underneath those seat covers after using them for awhile. Since they look a little loose in some areas the seams of the covers may end up hurting the original leather more than your belt was.

Heat, I would rather drive naked than to put on seat covers. But if this solution works for you, then more power to you and don't worry about what everyone else says.

This is why i took that 399 shield thing when i bought mine ..I mean at first when they started talking I was thinking RIP OFF !!!...but when I read what it was I was like oohhhh ...that acutally makes lots of sense ...they fix door dings (2 a year)...rock chips ....stains both inside and out ...rips/damages in the leather etc. ...they will even repaint if they have to...they also coat the vehicle with something that prevents swirls and marks etc I don't know what it is but it makes the X shine like glass...this is all warrantied for 6 years for that price. I mean as far as I see 399 for everything is worth it ...we know the cost of repainting a bumper ...and then I'm in michigan ...road salt etc and all that ...it's nice to know I don't have to worry about that for the life of the vehicle.

Do other dealerships offer this ??..I mean to me this is a better investment that seat covers ...and Heat00 they aren't that bad ...but they aren't that good either :p ... but thanks for posting so people who like it can actually get it ..peoples needs are different so you never know. It's like the running boards & rims ..some people like sport and some people like the chrome ....some people like sport rims ..some people like the tech rims .... so many opinions ...and as the forum grows it will get worse :p ... more debates and more thread stealing ..rofl :2:
skinny
You can't really expect to have every member to agree with the seat cover or any other decisions you make can you? It is an open forum and you are going to have members voice out their true opinion, praise you even though they disagree or even just not say anything at all. Whats the point if you don't get a true opinion though? This is what forums are all about, to get/give information and opinions? If you are happy about to outcome then good for you and enjoy it. INMO i dont think anyone here was either mean voicing out their opinion.

anyways, I really don't care if they are ugly and no one likes them, all I'm saying is that I was suprised that EVERYONE thinks they're ugly and waste of money... lol

I am surprised not at the discoloration, but the comments of "cheap leather".

My X has almost 15k miles on it, and I know that it didn't see the easiest life being that the first 13k were done by "dealer executives". Having said that, the seats are in pretty good shape. I'm about to Leatherique them for the first time so I'll see how that comes out.

True perhaps, but you could order a set for the back. You know, come to think of it, Heat's on to something here. Like joekids said, there are times when it would be nice to have some temporary protection for when you're at the beach with the kids, or you're coming back from a game of mudball...

PS - As an aside, I have to say that it's a miracle that any of us are alive. When I was growing up we didn't have babyseats, we rarely wore seatbelts, I sat up front with my father whenever possible, and our playgrounds were made seemingly of barbed wire and razor blades (at least compared to the soft-touch, egonomically-correct setups they have today).

The seat covers would be great for Snowboard Season. I hate jumping in the truck all wet and covered with snow, but it is a pain in the ass to change before heading down from the MT. You would need to put them across the back seat as well.

If they come on and off easy, I would use them for the weekend trip and take them off for everyday driving.
dejavudu94
To your point Heatoo, I went to an auto show two weeks ago and saw a bunch of new cars with light interiors. Many of the cars did have stains on the leather from belts and blue jeans. This is from the hundreds of people coming in and out of the cars in a one week period. However, I didn't see anything that constant attention and maintenance could not get out. With the light color leathers, you do have to spend more time cleaning it than the darker leathers. This is one of the reasons I chose the dark leather. I apologize if you felt that we were bashing you. I don't think any of the comments were made with any mal-intent. From one MDX owner to another, we all want to help each other make the right decisions. Your decision may not work for others. I think all of our comments will help other MDX owner's make a well informed decision. So please don't take it personal. I'm glad that you posted this thread. I took some time to think of other alternatives to help you and others in the same situation with the leather issue. Let me know what you think. Feel free to rip on it if you don't like it. All opinions welcomed.

This will protect the leather and still allow you to use the rest of the leather. On nice occassions, you could even take it out and toss it in the back.

I found this at the following URL. I'm sure you can find these cheaper at other stores as well.

I love the leather seats and agree - I wouldn't cover them... pointless to have leather seats if you're going to put cloth on them, isn't it?
Heat00
lol. yes, it is agravating to have to sit on canvas with leather underneath, but if you saw what happened to 2 of my seats, you would do the same. It is not only for the next owner, who may be a family memeber, but just to keep it in good shape, thats all.

If Acura could have gotten the stain out of the driver seat then why did they "re-leather" the seats for me. I tried meguiars leather cleaner and a conditioner, tried armor all cleaner, even threw some all saving windex on there lol. none took any of the stain out, not even a little.

so, to me, it was a good choice to pay $100 to have my leather seats stay in good shape. They will not be stained anymore.

do you know what the dealer told me? Just come back every time and I'll re-leather the seats again.

Yea, I have nothing better to do than head to Acura every 3 months, on top of all the other repairs and maintenance this thing has needed, to leave the X for 2 days for re-leathering. LMAO

Have you tried www.leatherique.com ?

I just picked up some to redo the interior of my BMW... from all accounts, a great product. I won't do it until the spring so I can't speak for it firsthand, however having done research and having spoken to people who have used it, they all praise it.

Guys everyone has their own value system and their own eye for beauty...or looks.

Let it go. I do think they are kinda shabby looking, but if he thinks the protection is worth the bad looks thats his cost-benefit analysis...and his problem.
