Stripped spare tire hoist - Click HERE for Original Thread

Has anyone else had trouble with the fit of the Acura provided lug wrench and the spare tire hoist fitting? (The lug wrench is used to lower the spare tire.) The fit of mine has been poor causing me difficulty securing the spare tire snugly under the car. It appears as if the wrench may be stripped after only 2 uses. An odd problem for sure, but one that could be big if I can't use the tire hoist at all.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Take it back to the dealer for repair/replacement.

If you look into the lug wrench does it look stripped? What about the bolt that you turn to lower the spare, is it stripped?

Thanks. I plan to do but this is one of those things I'm sure the dealer will say happened due to user error. If others had a similar issue I could argue back more effectively.

The hoist bolt looks a bit stripped. Hard to tell with the wrench. Never had good fit to begin with.

There was an old thread last year and this all that is left.

See if you have the dots on your handle. If not that might be why your bolt stripped.

I find that using the "wrench" provided by Acura is a real pain. I placed an 1/2" drive speed handle and an 18mm socket in the little stowage area. Anytime I need to lower or raise he spare I use this wrench. Much, much faster than the Acura provided tools.

Ditto.

Thanks for the advice. I like the idea of a socket. Still may need to have the bolt looked due to its condition.

The first 2007's had the wrong size wrnech shipped with the car. They were supposed to be replaced before sale, or after delivery. If you got an early 2007, and the wrench rounded off hte bolt head, you have a very clear warranty repair.
I'd say you have a clear warranty repair anyway, since there is nothing you can do to screw this up. No such thing as "user error".
