What are the symptoms of a tranny failure?
In September '06, I complained to the dealer that the shift from 2 to 3 or 3 to 2 was a little hard and jerky. I was told that they could not detect a problem on a road test, and that it was nothing to worry about.
Today I drove the MDX about 5 miles. It rested for about an hour, and then I restarted it. The throttle began to pulse and rev to about 2500 RPM. I drove about 2 miles and the engine light came on. Of course the dealer was closed. The engined pulsed whether the transmission was in P N or D5. I briefly took it up to 30 MPH and did not notice the pulse.
Any thoughts?

Well, the dealership will pull the code since your CEL is on, and that should shed some light on the issue. You could always go to Autozone and get the code pulled for free. A sign that the tranny failing is rpms rev up, but there is very little forward motion.

Idle Air Control (IAC) valve or EGR. Most likely IAC.
