Sport seats not holding up too well - Click HERE for Original Thread

Less than one year and 14,000 miles and the leather sport seats have more wrinkles and creases than Willie Nelson! I've had plenty of cars with leather seats, and some minor creasing/wrinkles is normal, but I think this is over the top. How is the leather holding up for those of you with the Sport seats?

My seat backs still look new after 4000 miles, but the left bolster on the driver's seat is getting a bit crinkly thanks to me sliding in and out all the time.

Another member here had some luck going to the dealer regarding stains on his seats. Perhaps you can prevail upon them to reskin your seats?

Regards,
Adam

That seat looks terrible - I have 22K and my seats look great. I had my driver's side replaced due to a minor stain under warranty. I don't have the sport seats but it should not matter - the dealer should fix that.

It all depends on your weight, temp, humidity, driving posture habits etc...

If it looks really bad complain vehemently to Acura and the stealer.

Well, i'm no lightweight at 6'1", 200 lbs but if that were the problem my CL-S would look even worse! It's 5 years old, 50k miles and the seats look nothing like the MDX seats!

Mine don't look the greatest either, but its kind of expected (especially on the left where I slide out). Plus the way the seats and getting into the car works out, I think it makes them wrinkle even more. Overall they're fine and the wear is expected through 22,000 miles.

Helped a member to fix a faulty door light this past weekend who has a sport with black interior. His perf leather was (to me) a MESS like yours. All cracked up & wrinkled. He bought his for about 6 months with around 9K miles on it.

One other thing I've noticed about the perf leather is they look & FEEL thinner than the non-sport. Could this be the reason?

P.S. He's about 5'-7" & around 150lbs.

Just got a call from my service guy. He ordered a new seat cover and they will replace it (along with some other items) once it comes in. What a relief, I thought I was going to have to get nasty about it!

I didn't know that the stains on the seats are covered under warranty.

In this case they are as the jeans color rub off onto the seats.

I have the same problem with the passenger side because of my wife. I complained about it to an Acura service guy when I brought my car in and he said try using Dawn mixed in with water and then use Lexol conditioner to condition the leather.

Woolite is better.

Thanks I will try that also.

Found out another thing that removes body oils well on the armrests and center rest, plain old cleaning wipes for hands and face.:)

Meguiars Leather Wipes are also great for car and home leather cleaning.

at least some of you agree now, that Acura did NOT do a great job with the leather!

I did have my driver seat and the left rear seat re-leathered.

It was due to a stain on the driver seat from my belt (see my seat cover thread, there was no other solution to prevent it from happening again, which is ridiculous), and they did the rear seat due to a 2" tear.

dealer should fix these, my dealer had to send it out becuase his guys would not be able to get it back like it was from the factory.

At least he was honest and sent it out to be done, looks like new now.

Mine are not the sport seats so it may be different, but just thought I would add my .02 worth anyways.

The loaner MDX base had parchment interior, and I noticed that the seats were either really dirty or stained. But not creased and wrinkled! A $50k vehicle should have higher quality leather. And I don't mean the thin 'glove' leather - how about the heavy-duty stuff they make Vanson leathers out of... that stuff could probably stop a small-caliber bullet :1:

Jeez, my '99 Ford Exploder had better leather... I just hope the replacement cover holds up better or Acura is going to be re-covering my seats every year ;)
